Could very well be a game of he who blinks first, we hold with our valuation of the player, they look at what they could do to strengthen the team with and without Ryan Leonard, then look at if the money they would get would be good value for making the changes in personnel required for life with out him and if it is not worth it, end the process there.

I can quite believe you but it's not the way I would do business. Not worth it. He's not Ronaldo.

Do you ever come to the rumours section and you can't see the Ryan Leonard thread so you think it's finally complete and get a bit excited but then you scroll down a bit and you find the Ryan Leonard thread and all your hopes and dreams are crushed?

In the most sincere terms, I hope you and your fellow Shrimpers enjoy this relative victory. Come January, when it's clear that the much promised assault on promotion fails to deliver, then Len's value sinks through your turf quicker than any of you could have imagined, result! At least by accepting a healthy income now you could have strengthened your squad. By the way, whatever did happen to the promised significant player your chairman was promising? Bertie Big Bollocks comes to mind. Big fish in a very small pond and happy for that to remain the case.
It's not a victory though is it? Your bids have turned Lenny's head and that won't go away regardless of whether he stays or not. Wilder may yet bid higher than his last one and Ron says 'yes', who knows. As for the January comment, we shall see...in the most sincere terms, it will give me no pleasure at all if we are in an auto place;). We're still waiting for our 'wow' player, but a bit like this thread, I'm not holding my breath, it will more likely be 'Who?'. I will go wow if Ranger gets fit in time for season starts, or Ferdinand manages 40 games. Such is football.

Anyone else with me on the thought that a 105 page thread on Leonard Nimoy would have been far more rewarding?

.... and before anyone else suggests it, surely more fascinating.

I agree, however I do feel he would improve us and that is maybe why Wilder & Co are sticking with it a little longer, will be interesting to see what happens come the end of the transfer window, and if the close it gets the higher bid we produce? or move on and leave him at roots for now?

So, is there any truth in these Leonard rumours then???

Gotta take your hat off to their chairman wether Leonard comes or not. Instead of laying straight down and having his tummy tickled, he's making us sweat!

Actually I think that has more to do with the sun and the unusually temperate weather.

Don't worry though, there's a storm brewing.

It happens all the time. I'm sure Southend has exploited the concerns of players in lower league clubs, making them aware of their interest and what could lie ahead for them if they chose to request a move. It's happened to us when clubs with more financial clout have called, and no doubt we've done the same to players who might otherwise remain in a lower division. Ron's walking on thin ice with this one. If he promises the earth and can't deliver then no doubt your player will not look upon future pledges favourably. Also, if Ranger is the best you have to look forward to then you're falling way short of what it'll take to make any sort of realistic promotion challenge. Such is life in professional football. Maybe Len will move, maybe he won't.......but your chairman has not played this as shrewdly as some on here suggest. Soon you may well find that all this tittle tattle will end up with a player of potential being a few months from his contract ending, and then the best you can expect will be.....???

Pinchy not so keen on shrimps

It's shrimpers, not shrimps, that's some other club.
Rootshallbloke will be impressed I'm paying attention but I'm getting very weiry.
If and when Lenny (as they call him) does sign it will seem like a big anti climax.
