Thought he was immense the first half of last season but the second half he was pretty poor, too many errors and it frustrated me when he headed or booted the ball out of play when under no pressure at all, doubt he would have cut it in the Championship.

He was just what we needed when he joined as he would head or kick anything that moved, however after he signed his new wolves contract his level of performance was reduced. This was not only acknowledged by me and other Blades but also by wilder who preferred other options namely Bash, Wright and JOC who were our first choice.

EEL lost a bit of sharpness and form due to an injury, and the form of other players meant they kept a shirt.

Any player that contributed as much as he did to that season doesn't deserve a bad word said about them.

And what he could or couldn't do in the Championship shouldn't even come into it.

Do not honestly believe that we were ever in for him,

Wilder confirmed we were. granted it was straight after the season, and he may have since dropped his interest well clearly has but he did say we talked to Wolves about him. Im happy he hasn't come back ill be honest

Wow, didn't see this coiming. Slightly disappointed in that I like EEL and I hoped he would prove doubters wrong and make his mark at the Championship. He also has age and potential on his side. However, if EEL has joined MK I doubt we were interested in him - post signing Stearman, who is clearly our first choice and understandably so. Listening to Wilder's interview when he signed Stearman he said its possible we're still looking for another centre half and when asked directly about EEL Wilder says "there's other players on the list" and to me it seems EEL wasn't top of the list for the other second centre back to be signed.

I can only look back on EEL extending his contract at Wolves as a major own goal for EEL. He could well end up been a journey man centre half constantly going out on loan. I thought at the time it was bizarre and he should have been doing all he could to come to us in the summer since he was flying until he EEL signed for Wolves.

Happy with this.
Let's hope this means we are edging our way towards quality signings now we have some moneh to spunk! !!!

That's a blessing in disguise.

Signing him would have smacked of "settling for 2nd best". A loanee who did well at first then at the end of his loan spell ended up out of the team is not how we should be progressing.

Most signings so far seem on the money.

I'd rather we wait and sign a player that would get in the team rather than a squad shirt filler. We still have O'Connell, Stearman, Basham, Wright and Wilson and it's by no means a shoe in that 3-5-2 is here to stay. Both Baldock and Stevens played in a back 4 last season as I recall.

The post Wolves contract extension Ebanks Landell wasn't very good as mentioned before but I'm glad he signed it. It means he's got a good wage coming in for at least another 2 and a half years. It's so easy to fall down the leagues if things don't go your way.

We got a cult hero when we needed one and he never shirked a tackle for us so good luck to the lad.

Seems delighted he's sign for Franchise!?

We can do better than EEL,Wilder obviously agree s be interesting who comes in.

Good luck to him,but I think Wilder has his eye on someone less prone to a brainfart. Clearly Wolves don't see him as Championship standard so maybe neither should we. Watch this space as Wilder certainly wants another CB.

Tbf wolves don't want him cause he doesn't cost 15mil and Ian Portuguese

Good luck to the lad

Completely agree. I love all the he got a new contract then he was shit you always see... I honestly believe his goal against Bury was one of the pivotal moments of last season!

Interesting development given CW's previous comments that EEL was a target.

I wonder if CW preferred other targets and/or didn't think he was worth the money WWFC were asking.

Unless WWFC were looking for guaranteed starts, I would have thought Utd would have been keen on another loan deal.

MK is an odd destination for him. If anything a step back from Utd last season and I'd be surprised if they were challenging for promotion next season. Maybe L1 is his level or maybe WWFC want him to get 40-odd games under his belt next season.

Thanks EEL. Wilson against Oxford may be the defender who scored and got our form back but for me EEL was the defender who scored against Bury and got our passion back. Until that point I'd not cheered as much after a goal at The Lane since Southampton.

Don't think Wilder has ever been interested in signing EEL this summer. When questioned has normally given a polite reply (quite rightly given his service for us last season) but never said we'd bid (unlike Holmes and Leonard. The speculation seems to have been made as a result of press assumptions that he'd be on our radar.

In an industry filled with uncertainty, Ethan did the absolute right thing, signing a three year deal, to secure his immediate future financially. His slight wobble after that, be it through injury or whatever, has meant for now, the gamble has not paid off for Wolves. They will probably have to subsidise his wages while he is on loan. Good luck to the lad.

In the photo shoot after EEL had signed the new contract he looked like a man who'd just lost his wallet, Wolves knew we had interest and were hoping to get a fee whereas if he was on a free he had better options. I assume Wolves still tried to get a fee and our valuations differed, nobody beats Wilder at transfer poker.

I agree with what yiu are saying but the inference of other posters was that he was obliged to sign. He was in a v strong position as he was offered a contract that he signed based on the fact that sufc were apparently after him and Subsequently wolves may have had to let him go on a free if he had not signed. This no doubt influenced the value of contract he was in a position to negotiate

Right man at the right time but I'm pleased we've moved on.

The fact we've signed the guy who kept him out of the wolves side last year says it all really.

Thanks Ethan and good luck !
