Well done Chris! One in the eye for Johnny Leeds!

One of them openly admits he supports Halifax Town.

In the recent Praise and Grumble anniversary celebrations they interviewed loads of ex presenters.
As some hadn't presented for years they were free to ask them who they supported.

They mentioned their teams, I remember many said they were Blades but also most of them said
'You might start off supporting United or Wednesday but when you work with all the local clubs on a daily basis you grow a like for certain managers and players and overtime you do develope a GENUINE fondness for all the local teams'.

It's similar to many players end up supporting (in a fashion) most of the clubs they've played for.
Kevin Davies (ex Bolton) was interviewed a few weeks ago and he said he was brought up a Blade but now has a strong affection towards Bolton and he said his kids support Bolton.

Derek Dooley was brought up a big Wednesday fan but overtime working at the Lane he developed genuine feelings towards United. During interviews he said many times that he genuinely supports both Sheffield clubs.

So maybe all the presenters ARE now neutral and support all the local clubs.

I think the main factor regarding developing ' a genuine fondness ' for local teams can possibly be explained by being removed from the day to day vitriol and rivalry is encumbent with living side by side in Sheffield. When I lived there it was horrendous to have to suffer the arrogants constantly in my face. Since I've moved away (44 years ago now) those memories fade, I now just look back on the area with fondness, don't get me wrong, I am just as big a Blade as ever - but the 'hatred' has long gone.

They can't do that it's the BBC and they got remain impartial

I'm sure they're good lads.... it just gets bit irritating when a caller gets pulled up mid flow for some minor factual error. We all get the jist anyway and don't need to know that player X didn't play for club Y 5 years ago
Ian Wright is an Arsenal fan and freely admits it. It doesn't prevent him expressing an honest opinion of Spurs on 606

The only place I know where the BBC has an official, editorial policy of neutrality between teams is Glasgow, for obvious reasons.

I thought it was a dig at Ryan Bennett to be honest who said he joined Wolves because he didn't want to be involved in a relegation battle with us

Exactly. Pretty clear if you listen to the interview that Wilder and Buchan get on pretty well, laughs throughout. Not really sure why Buchan gets the flak he does from some tbh – reasonable interviewer. Yes, he has a Leeds accent. Is that it?

Who does Brian the Blade support ?

Himself.

"For the sole reason, that when you've manged a team like I have, you know all about football. And Barnsley's crowds; they don't deserve a team. I'm going to have nice bottle of wine, for the sole reason that I am a alcoholic with nothing better to do than to ring up the local radio station and drone on a lot".

the impartiality part has always confused me because look at 1 of the most long running & successful football shows on sky sports, Soccer Saturday. everybody knows that
Jeff supports Hartlepool,
Charlie nicholas & Paul merson > arsenal.
Matt Le tisser > Southampton
Phil Thompson > Liverpool

noone has ever had a problem with that

I do

May I suggest coming back for a visit? It may just recharge the old hatred batteries, I strongly recommend it
