Is anyone else worried...

Exactly, and wouldn't we all feel a bit better with strong championship players?

I don't mind getting 'the best of' L1/2...the player's are good enough IMO, we just need a few more in key area's.
I reckon we might get one or two loans from the Prem also...

Agree. This is my view too.

Wilder is an expert at lower league football so hes cherry picking all the best players with talent and high potential but no once knows for sure if they'll cope at Championship level.

Bringing in tried and tested will be expensive and it far from gauranteed success.
So I expect the tried and tested top quality will be brought in as loanees.

The great thing about loanees is that they are temporary fixes. Any solution that is "temporary" is normally a negative BUT Wilder wont even know for certainly which positions need strengthening so it gives him time to re evaluate the squad without committing.

He'll know exactly what we need regards transfers and loanees in the January transfer window, so it will be vital that we have significant funds to push on at the half way stage.

Before anyone says it: Wilder deserves the full backing of fans and the club after his great success last season, and I don't doubt the man at all. He's by far the best manager we've had in a very long time, it goes without saying. Also, his signings last season were fantastic and exactly what we needed.

However, I sit here and can't help but worry about the signings we are making now: most of them are players that have been cutting there cloth in League 1, relegated from League 1 or relegated from League 2. We are yet to see any proven Championship players come in, and there aren't any credible rumors of us bringing any in (maybe you could say EEL is proven, but I think 'proven championship' requires a good few more seasons than he has had, but even if he is proven, that's still only one).

Does anyone else have this feeling that or am I on my own? I'm not doubting the players aren't good, but I can't help but think we need to bring in players proven at that level. Will we see some coming in with the Harry and Walker money?
Is this board getting infiltrated?

Ched didn't do anything for us in championship, didn't do well for Chesterfield when fit, and has been injured and or in prison for a long time.

Never fully fit. He ran us ragged for 15 minutes at ChesVegas last season. We don't really know what he's still capable of but Wilder has signed him.

A team of winners which has been strengthened by players who have had an outstanding season at their clubs. A management team and staff brimming with success and confidence. The excitement level must be through the roof at the chance to prove themselves at a higher level.

I am not worried ... I am excited !!!

If you weren't just a WUM I'd point out to you that we have 17 (seventeen) players with Championship experience and 9 with Premier League experience.

By the end of next season I reckon we'll have thirty odd players with Championship experience :)

The negatives.

We go in to next season with a squad full of players who either don't have Championship experiences, or are either unproven or failed in the Championship, supplemented with players who have come from teams below us in the league.

The positives.

We go in to next season with a squad brimming with confidence on the back of a season where they won the league at a canter, racking up a century of points, and with a squad of players, plenty of whom have a point to prove, and managed by a man who can get the best out of his players.

The decider.

We go in to next season without any real expectations, and should have enough about us to steer clear of the relegation trapdoor.

I can certainly see the point for bringing some experience in, I think CW will mirror Bassett's first season in the top flight where he went with inexperience to see how the early stages went, then signed experience in Marwood & Jones to back up the team.

...signed utter shite in Marwood and Jones. A complete waste of a million pounds on a has been and a pub player.

People are getting confused with my post - i'm not saying go out and get a big name, splash loads of money on one significant player, or bring in loads of people to make the numbers up - i'm saying shouldn't we be looking at players who have successfully cut their cloth in the championship for most of the careers and done a really good job at it?

I'm not feeling pessimistic about the upcoming season, i think we will comfortably survive because I do have full faith in Wilder - but what if the players can't hack it?

Given they are Wilder's players, your final sentence is rather self-contradictory, isn't it?

He's/they've done great so far, hopefully that continues!

I'm not a big fan of the 'wait till Jan' approach as you're often left feeding off scrap's and paying a premium for doing so.

I'm hoping Wilder get's the core squad together in the summer and they're good enough to stay up/compete, then build again next summer.

The key signing was Gayle to organise the defence and kick some top players, harder and more classy than our other defenders. But there was no transfer window as such in those days.
I thought Marwood was hugely disappointing. Jones shit a few up and put himself about a bit but we didn't miss him when he'd gone.

Assuage your doubt CW knows what required

we will be the team to watch

we have strengthened wisely without blowing too much

And yet we stopped up comfortably against all the odds. How do you know we would have done so had we not signed those 2 players?
