In an era when every side had a hard man to 'sort out' the opposition if it started getting tasty, he was United's hatchet man. The old man always told me that if any skilful player was being kicked to bits by an opposition player you would usually watch a Utd attack fizzle out before looking across the pitch to see Mr lump kicker splayed out on the pitch in agony....with Brian Richardson looking sheepish nearby and whistling nonchalantly....a hard bstard definately.

Billy whitehurst for me!. No opposition player would ever come out of a 50/50 tackle with him without the scars to prove it!!. Both monty and Morgan were bloody hard nuts also. Neil shipperly was more like a scrum half in rugby!!. Players used to run into him and he'd never fucking move a muscle! The other player would be dazed though!.
