We need to splash some cash soon and gerremin but need to save some for back end of August and Jim White day.

Neither is the tiresome agenda of our less intelligent fans against the chairman. That's very familiar indeed.

Who do you think makes up the substantial deficit between income and expenditure every year? Perhaps you do? Or is that spin too.

Blades fans - specialists in football finance.
Ever ask yourself why we have such substantial deficits each year Pinchy?

Nailed it. Financing a football club isn't just champ manager bollox of offering a transfer fee.

Since the Prince has come in we have stabilised somewhat. The infamous quotes don't help but are taken out of context.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Kev at Exeter and his love for our club shone through.

We could splash millions and move nowhere. It's about a sustainable model now (as much as running a footy club outside the premiership can be sustainable)

Come on Isiah. You are the prophet. According to the old testament a well connected and accurate one. You tell us as you will of course know having received the word of the Lord.

Let's see if my guess accords with what you say.

Cough.......Desso.....cough

I'm sure pommpey will be along shortly to put you right.

Good sensible post but please understand that this will never catch on.

No. I have been corrected on this and it was straight from McCabe's honest mouth.

The stonking amounts we got for Maguire and Murphy went on wages. For players like Flynn, Collins, Hammond, Higdon, Sammon and Woolford.

It didn't go on the Desso. The FA Cup paid for that, we are told.

Sounds about right to me ;)

it was stated in the "Gospel according to the Star" that £850k was set aside from the cup exploits that season for the Desso

The transfer fees just disappeared down the black hole
I assume you are referring to the black hole that is the players wages which enable us to put a team out each week ;)

My reading of this (and in recent years) is that KM and the Prince invest enough each year to cover any of the club's losses and to give the manager a fighting chance with a decent budget. As benefactors they are making a loss each year and I suspect there is a limit on how much they are prepared to lose seen as though both have personal worth in the tens of millions rather than billions.

The Championship is a different game financially and whilst our curent funding won't give us the worst budget we are far off the highest. More money will be needed from somewhere to kick us to the next level financially. We will be punching above our weight in the meantime.
Now that is a very sensible comment!

Running at a loss

And

Overhead

Spring to mind. Running a club the size of ours is expensive. I'm no accountant buy just the minus column on the accounts shoes the cost of the club.

IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT TRANSFER FEES.

OR player wages. Look at the support staff the up keep of the ground and facilities. Security policing, travel expenses and hotels for players.

It may be Our football club but it's like any other business we have expenses as well as "limited" income.

I don't usually get involved in such debates but really if it was t for kev and the Prince all but propping us up we'd have been gone by now.

We're going in the right direction and our board are doing all the can.

Maybe not. But we'd certainly not be where we are now.

We might however been asked to buy a lottery ticket to buy a bloody player. (Hodges)

Or seen Red cards handed out around the stadium.
We have just endured the longest period outside the top 2 divisions in our entire history so not too much to be grateful for. Let's hope we see a bit more ambition and better times ahead.

Just because a club has been in the lower division for 10 years+ doesn't automatically mean no ambition has been shown.

The facts show that ironically part of our failure WAS being ambitious. The season we appointed Robson is the most ambitious we've ever been bringing in managers with great cv's then trusting them to bring in players on big money. It's the manager appointments that haven't worked. Also the expansion to rule the world by buying clubs in China, Hungary and Australia seemed ok at the time then there was the world wide property slump.

Conversely a club could sell all their best players, appoint a manager with the worse cv and pay the lowest wages cutting expenses
But if that club reaches the PL then would say that club has shown ambition?

Makes me laugh how Southampton are often quoted as a well run club but they sell all their best players and keep changing from one untested risky foreign manager to the next. One day their gambles will fail and they'll be relegated.

No Snowy, you're mixing me up with some other chap. I have a slight sight impediment - one eyes 'igher than the other see. Kids can be very cruel can't they?

You've got to admit that is class!

Agree but all within reason. As you say congested period outside top 2 divisions means longest time without top 2 league income yet hangover of expense from previous regimes.
