Player Suggestion Jordan Hugill

I know nothing about him, but his record isn't flattering. If Wilder rates him though then it can't be argued with

Played 43 games for an average championship side (Preston) last season and scored 12 goals. That's not a bad return for a 'target man'.

Don't think Clarke or Hanson will manage 12 next season.

I'll be amazed if they manage 12 between them!

I thought Clarke looked great in the run at the end of the season.
Off the top of my head Clarke has played for Wolves, Wendy's, Charlton and QPR at Championship level and he's never really done it at any of those clubs. He's a top League 1 striker but that's it. I'm also not convinced that Evans is the answer either.

I reckon a strike force of Sharp and Hugill would return between 25-28 goals with Billy bagging around 15 of them.

I e never heard of him!!. We do need someone to play alongside billy but those type of players cost money!. If wilder rates him then it's fine by me!. In wilder we trust. Utb

Oh yes, that's exactly how we won league one....
Which is fine if you think our attack can score 3-4 goals each match.

Of course it can. This isn't Momemtum and Wilder isn't Corbyn. Everything can be argued with. What matters is if the points raised have any merit.

IF this is kosher then Hansen goes for sure and maybe Clarke as well. Don't see it but I ain't ITK.

United don't need 6 fucking strikers and no cover for central defence. I thought we'd learned this lesson 3 years ago.

Yeah, I remember last season. it was League 1 if I remember correctly.

yeah well done, and did wilder leave us short in any position?? he will get a couple of centre halves in, he aint stupid, but we still need one more forward, and a midfielder as well for squad depth

We need more than one centre back as we've only got two, only one of who is likely to be starting. So if we need 6 strikers, by the same logic we need 6 centre backs. That's at least 4 more using the same logic.

Seen him a fair bit. Incredibly hard working, strong lad. Good with his back to goal.

Not a silky or pacey player, but if he keeps developing he'll become very valuable. Worth a punt if not overpriced, but don't expect the finished article.

Forgive me for asking an obvious question but if he's any good why are Preston gonna let him go unless we offer a ridiculous amount of money....which we obviously won't.....and what are the chances of Wilders 'will not go any higher valuation' being in line with Preston's ???

Relax! We are going to sign a centre half. We could still do with a striker though. One that isn't crippled, lightweight, no pace, at the end of his career or been out of the game for 5 years. Because those are our options at present.

we currently have wright, jack, bash, and technically brayford for now, yes i agree a minimum of 2, id like to see at least another 3, and yes i think we need 6 forwards sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture, defensively the guys we have remained injury free, of the current forwards we cant be sure of clarke and laverys fitness, but i still think we will get in another 4 or 5 players, probably 2 def, a mid, a forward and a back up keeper

Agreed. But then we need to start getting shut before we wheel anyone else in.

...............We NEED at least one centre half and we are talking about another forward?

Don't concede, don't lose.

Sorry but don't score you get relegated pure and simple, Middlesbrough last season are a prime example.

Our Strikers

Sharp. Will do well if he gets 10-15 goals next season.

Clarke. Never done anything in the Championship in his long career.

Lavery. Didn't score loads for the pigs.
Their verdict while he was not bad nowhere prolific enough for the Championship.

Evan's. Again never done it in the Championship, also been out of the game for so long. It's going to be really tough for him.

Hanson. Simply not good enough for the Championship. Can see him going on loan in January.

Can't say I know anything about the guy mentioned above but do you honestly think the above strikers have enough goals in them ?

I agree we need Central defenders.

That's it, I'll be amazed if at least one striker doesn't leave before the start of the season (Hanson in my opinion). What we currently have isn't good enough.

I went to Deepdale with my Preston mates last season. They drew 1-1 against a terrible Ipswich side in a game where Hugill got a scrappy late equaliser.

I thought Hugill was absolutely awful - the classic, lumbering, Darius Henderson type.

The PNE fans around me loved him though. They liked him because he had a big heart and ran around a lot for a big striker. I imagine some on here would like him for that too.

As an aside, Paul Grayson employed typical Grayson tactics going into the last 10 minutes 1-0 down: he put three 6ft 3 strikers up front (I think one was 6ft 7) and they lumped it and lumped it until they scrambled one in.

Pinchy might have considered his own life watching it...
