@TheFLZone Charlton have made a "firm" offer to sign MK Dons midfielder Ben Reeves while Sheffield United remain interested in the player as well

Heard he doesn't want to come north and wants to play for that cunt Robinson . Fuck him .

He will be a direct replacement for the biggest Clun in division 1, as they are about to lose Holmes.

Another free transfer, another attacking midfielder.

He'd be quite a smart signing but I don't think he'll be our top target.

Jeez, we really, really seem interested in piling up these tricky no.10 types, eh?

Good player but, unless Sam really is going, best left to Charlton I'd have thought?

P.S. I heard Karl Robinson post-match interview after their last game of the season (which, credit to him, was a very good/interesting interview).
When asked about recruitment, his first response was about needing to get someone in in Ricky Holmes's position(?) A comment he quickly followed up with something along the lines of "we need competition for Holmes, we need competition for every position". I just thought: "Ah, Ricky Holmes is on his way then..."

Think his formed dipped off, wouldn't be particularly better then what we have.

I'm surprised by his goal scoring record.

Scores a goal every 4-5 matches more or less but hasn't played 40+ games in past 4 Seasons.

Reminds me a bit of the actor Toby Stevens a little bit. Which is unfortunate.

He played 42 this season to be fair mate. I'm guessing he doesn't want to move North though and I would rather other targets like Holmes (if he can prize himself away from London), Maddison, Otzhumer or Carey.

Sky still stiring the pot:

Having successfully stayed up for another season in the Championship, the Brewers are looking to strengthen their squad and want Liverpool's U23 captain Wilson on a season-long loan.

They are also among a number of Championship clubs interested in signing midfielder Reeves, who is available on a free transfer from MK Dons.

The Dons are trying to get the 25-year-old to re-sign but he is of interest to newly-promoted Championship pair Sheffield United and Bolton, as well as League One Charlton, who are managed by former Dons boss Karl Robinson.

This is far more likely now O'Shea hasn't signed. Same goes for Graham Carey.

Agree plenty of better options out there and a number of them also wouldn't command a fee other than a signing on bonus.

If so then this is getting a bit confusing.

If we're signing Holmes I don't see us signing Reeves.

Is Reeves just a back up option if we don't get Holmes or could we be getting him to replace Carruthers?

I don't see us signing him primarily as a right wing option, as he's more of a central player. But he would be a comparable option on the right to Mackay-Steven who we do seem interested in.

What would be very funny is if we signed Holmes and Reeves and kept Carruthers. I think Karl Robinson would quit football.

Some chap called Ollie Coleman posted this on Twitter. Seems to be an MK Dons fans. Perhaps being ironic but never know

BREAKING NEWS: Ben Reeves has signed for Sheffield United on a 3 year deal. Another one from the feeder club... #sufc #mkdons

I do wonder if we should consider not as a lower alternative to Holmes but as an equal one.

He has Championship experience, albeit a relegation. 4 in 22 at that level. 1 in 5 throughout his career. Still only 25, will already know Baldock and Carruthers and MK have been a good passing side while he has been there. Also might know Lafferty from his Ireland days. Much more potential to improve than Holmes.

Wonder whether we just switch targets and save the hassle of dealing with Robinson and the fee? He's out of contract so no club agreement needed. Like Holmes, scores some nice goals from distance.

I think Reeves is a more likely alternative to Mackay-Steven than Holmes. Like him he can play from the right or centrally and is left footed. Most of all though I don't think there's any chance we'd abandon our interest in Holmes at this stage.

Maybe Celtic want a permanent deal for GMS and aren't willing to budge on that, so we've switched targets.

Having Baldock here as well as Carruthers only makes it more likely that Reeves would sign.

The common factor in all these players is that they are "comfortable on the ball" footballers. I ❤️ Proper Footballers. So does Tufty, Pele bless his fluffy tail.

Interesting....if true is it a case of running out of patience with the Holmes saga? Or the Leonard one??

Wilder don't mess about, the Southend chairman might be crying into his rug when the lad leaves for peanuts in January!

Is that your opinion Ricky or have you heard something re switching targets from GMS?

Just my opinion. Mainly because there's no way Wilder will give up on Holmes yet (not least because he's still on holiday). But also because I think we have GMS in mind for RW/ACM, which is where Reeves plays. Then he's also left footed, and a similar age. And has blond hair.

There's also the timing. If this is true about Reeves, then it coincides with the talks we've apparently had with Celtic about GMS - if those talks didn't go well, we could have turned our attention to Reeves.

I also think it would appeal taking Reeves on a permanent deal rather than GMS on loan - he's a very good free transfer, would be an asset and is more proven in English football than GMS.

Personally I'd probably favour Reeves. Not as much of a winger but possibly a better all round player.

Lord Nixon has spoken. Reeves it is.

We should certainly go for someone who can play wide right and also centrally, either in midfield or up front.

Been interested in Reeves for a long time.

Can see us powering on with this if the Mackay - Stevens news is genuine.

Is that Nixon a reliable journo?
