Blades Managers Alive

Don't know what made me think about this but it's a sobering thought that of our managers, the one that managed us the longest time ago but is still alive is Martin Peters (aged 73), followed by :

Billy McEwen (65)
Dave Bassett (72)

Out of those that followed, Kendall and Speed have died with all the rest still around.

McEwan

Bergara managed us for two games. Passed away about 10 years ago

Well perhaps he's dead to us, although I'm sure some feel the same way about Peters. Perhaps that's not the most pc comment considering his current state of health, however that doesn't alter the fact that he was an awful manager.

He was on Sky Sports News the other day talking about some ridiculous purchase Manchester United are about to make and he looks like he's in black and white. They ought to alert you.

"Do not adjust your set, your Tv's colour hasn't shit the bed, it's just Bryan Robson."

I saw that, he looked like he was nearer 70.
 
Since Bassett, it seems we've had hundreds of 'em with only Warnock doing a serious stint. I don't think any have done two full seasons out of the rest. Blackwell maybe? I'm not sure which did the most damage, chopping and changing too often or in Blackwell's case, giving him too long!

*Edit - Just looked on wiki and we had eight managers in the first 84 years of our existence. We had 29 in the subsequent 42. Guess which period was the most successful?

In his own mind there was only ever 'One United' and sadly it was not the original one from S2.

I spoke to McCabe at an AGM a year or two after Mogadon Man had left and KM still felt he was the 'right man'. It's the only time I've really thought that he was a million miles away from the fan base. I always thought Robson saw any job as a stepping stone on the way back to Old Trafford. I hated him for his mismanagement and tedious football but far far far more upsetting, was his view that the Sheffield derby was "just another game".

Wanker! Absolute prize top knobhead wanker with bells on, and pom poms. Shitting-bastard-top-bastard-wanker-tosspot-bastard-wanker.

Rich as the Bard's wonderful English language is, it can't even begin to describe how much I hate that disinterested TWAT.

i worked in a hotel in accrington and we had west brom stay when they were due to play blackburn. robson was in charge with pearson as number 2. the friday night they held their meeting in the bar i was running. several hours later after countless bottles of bud they were still there half pissed. at one point they even left the table for 20 mins and left paperwork on the table including the starting line up for the game. i remember thinking how very proffesional of them. if id been a blackburn fan i could easily have leaked them the starting line up. also remember robbie earnshaw been a right big time charlie. complaining about everything
 
didnt we have one years and years ago who died of a heart attack on the train with the team while on the way to Birmingham away they played in the math that day as a tribute to him
 
A lot of the old 70's team are starting to fade now- very sad to see. Obviously we've lost Hockey a long time ago and Reece, Hope, Hodgy, Woody, more recently. (Bet I've missed some?). It's great to see the old players from that era - they were a very good team back then. I hope they live to see us back in the Prem.

No, Peters is the one still alive who managed us the longest time ago. The ones before him and after him, up to Billy Mac, are all dead.
 
Is Geoff Taylor still alive? He must be well into his 80's by now and he played a crucial part of Harry's success.
