Happy Play-Off Final Defeat Day

The Burnley one was the most painful one, I was 100% convinced we were going to win that day,

The others I always had the nagging doubt we would lose, even Wolves in 2003 I think I was the only one who thought going in to it that it would be be a game to far after it euphoria of The Forest semi.

Wow 20yrs since the 1st sheff utd game i can remember watching. That makes me feel old

You know how next season going to go, as guess when 2018 championship play off final is yep
26th may 2018

I grew up in Sandal! That's definitely Wakefield. On the other hand Ryhill, Havercroft, Fitzwilliam, Hemsworth, they can all fuck off to Barnsley, we'll keep Woolley and Notton thanks!

Woolley Moor Services eh? It's lovely there. I wanted to take the missus there on honeymoon but she insisted on a tour of Andalucia instead.

Any adjudication on Hall Green welcome.

That Burnley goal still hurts, but it was a fucking cracker, and it hurts less than thinking about how God awful we were that day.

Would you still fear the playoffs under Wilder?

I wouldn't mind if we'd turned up and had a go in any of them , don't think we even looked like scoring against Palace and they were shite , Burnley or Huddersfield & wolves it was over as contest in 20mins if we hadn't lost McCall in last league match at Watford and had him for play offs we would have gone up that year .. ahh we'll all pie in the sky & part of what makes us a blade ,, thank fuck there was no Wembley trip this time . I'm just enjoying laughing at the oinks now as they are starting to develop a play off phobia

Any adjudication on Hall Green welcome.

Isn't that near Criggleston ? I was brought up in Darton, the top end near Staincross Common. I thought I was the only Blade in existence in that neck of the woods.

Us West Yorkshire, West Yorkshire/SouthYorkshire border types should have our own section on this forum.

Have a look where ? And what's "proper stuff" ? You're not grooming me are you, have a thing for 63 year old pot bellied grey haired old wrinkles ? I'll take a dare

Mmm ( stroking chin ) " West Riding... West Riding...West Riding " ? No, not happening. Is it near South Riding ?

Bloody education standards these.... er.... them days

Whilst all the play off final defeats were sickening I was also really angry after the Huddersfield one. We were absolutely abysmal during the game but managed to hold on for pens. How we then managed to lose on pens having been in a fantastic position was beyond belief. The players that day were a disgrace. How things have changed.

Left every single one absolutely wounded. Still have not watched highlights or replays all these years later!

The first three play-off finals we lost all featured opposition players who would go on to play for us.

Neil Shipperley and Bruce Dyer for Palace in 1997. Dean Sturridge for Wolves in 2003 and Kevin McDonald for Burnley in 2009.

The last three play-off finals all featured defenders for us who would later go on to play for England.

Jagielka in 2003, Walker in 2009 and Maguire in 2012.
