Once the corner is developed, will this make any kop development more difficult. That whole end should be developed in one go.

How? It won't affect anything, other than maybe access at a push, but still other alternatives.

It's all in planning, not ready to be built.

But it seems there is a plan to do something with the whole site, and this is just a part of it.
We put plans in for the KOP and associated buildings years ago and it still isn't started, or close to starting. We also have looked at putting another tier on the south stand.

It may be that this development is all part of a grand plan. Get this done and it allows the shop to continue to sell while the access to the south stand is restricted for building works.

To be fair though, a lot of the former East Berlin is an atrocious dump, architecturally.

The stigma over concrete buildings in this country is because they were used for social housing and were erected quickly and cheaply. The type of construction hadn't really been tested before we embarked on a huge programme of slum clearances and building tower blocks and it wasn't until the programme was partially completed and fully committed to that people realised that they hadn't been well designed or built properly.

I don't know much about the research that concludes they promote crime and I suspect it's more to do with inequality and poverty but the big estates, with multiple blocks were crime ridden. This got worse because as people started to refuse to be re-housed in tower blocks the councils started to follow a policy of using the blocks to house the poorest of society, so you got blocks that were full of a mix of pensioners, those with learning difficulties and those with criminal records who were effectively unemployable.

I've mentioned before, McCabe got it seriously wrong when we went into the Premier League. He was more interested in financial security in the long term.

Fair enough he couldn't have predicted the property market to crash, but to invest in off field ventures like foreign clubs and hotels rather than on field what a huge mistake.

Still, you can't knock Bramall Lane, looks 10x what that other hole looks like.

It might be something that has little bearing on the question of what gets built and for what reason, but isn't one potential spin-off of building student or residential accommodation that we might find that we create a new breed of supporter? It might seem unlikely, even unrealistic, but if having apartments built results in the creation of new supporters it's not entirely a bad decision, is it? Surely the club can offer an incentive or two that makes attending home games an attractive consideration?

I think we can kiss that one goodbye irrespectively. I read today that Defoe has just signed for Bournemouth at £130k per week for 3 years. That's £20m he's going to collect between now and him hitting 37. Jags must have read that and thought fuck coaching the U21's at Bramall Lane.
