CONFIRMED Ricky Holmes

Wendy fans will just say that they're only bidding for him to piss us off, or something along those lines.

God forbid they pay a reasonable amount for someone with potential.

This season we should be trying to consolidate our place in the championship with the sort of signing we've seen already. Then the season we'll start to see some marque signings to push up towards the top 6

Have the piggies actually shown an interest in Holmes or is it a bit of creative licence on someone's behalf?

Be funny if they start trying to copy our recruitment team set up....or trying to hijack all our prospective player purchases to try and copy our methods without the set up.

Wednesday fans are embarrassingly clueless about players and signings. They're not mocking our signings just to wind us up, they're genuine, they mean it.

They've been conditioned to think that you must spend millions to get anyone half decent.

I really hope they keep Carlost-it
He really was out of his depth for the semi and had no idea how to handle it. If he stays with the Wendies I think they could actually implode and fall short of the playoffs.
My fear is that they are very well backed and if they appoint a top manager that will be the moment they will get their success.

They are one good manager away from being MASSIVE - that is the only signing they need to make.

Fingers crossed they are daft enough to stick and not twist !

Patrick Roberts on loan at Celtic, what a player

Man City player going back to the Etihad after next weeks Scottish Cup Final

As good as he is he probably won't get regular first team football at City because he's Patrick Roberts and not Patricio Roberto

Celtic are gonna break the bank to get him to go back there, but if City won't sell or loan him back to Scotland we should try a sneaky loan bid

Thought I'd respond to this seeing as no-one else has. I think there will be a number of very good players at Premiership clubs who aren't in the first 25 but are desperate to play first team football. I suggested this the other week as an area to look at - which brought a mindless response or two from folks thinking I was suggesting we sign millionaire footballers from the Prem, with their baby Bentley's and high life-style. I wasn't. I was talking exactly about players like this. Very good, young players, plying their trade at a Prem club but, because of the strict rules around Prem clubs having to name their first 25, they fall just outside that and can't play in the first team. Joe Riley, for example, fits this description - although we saw very little of him when he was here - but I suspect he could come back. I'd be more interested though in a big pacy striker. We'll see. I'm sure it's not escaped Wilder's attention that this is another possible source of talent. As for Patrick Roberts - you've had no response because few people have ever heard of him, however, if there's any slight suggestion that we are looking at him we'll have lots of experts on here who can tell us all about him.

Far from an expert on Patrick Roberts but we have no chance in signing him. He will probably move to Celtic for approx £15m. If he doesn't go there then he will end up either on loan or permanently moving to someone like West Ham.

He's way out of our league. It is like us try to sign Ihenacho at City.

There isn't a set of fans in general more ignorant about the players that play for any other club

Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea have all raided the players from lower divisions in the past but for some reason it's below them

The shit will hit the fan again soon enough don't you worry

Patrick Roberts will be on Loan to bottom to mid table PL Team next year.

The Turkish lad they have out on Loan at FC Twente could be far more gettable though. Very very good player

Enes Unal. They may also want PL football for him but you never know

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enes_Ünal

They paid £12m for Roberts and £8m for Unal

I don't think we could get him either being realistic but he is just the kind of player that we should be pursuing

A very good young player from a Prem club that unfortunately finds himself stuck behind three established internationals

Celtic will not be paying £15 million for one player. From somebody who comes from a family of Celtic fans I can assure you that won't happen

Celtic will however try to get him for another season on loan or on a permanent deal for no more than a £5 million fee

Assuming he's not in Man City's immediate plans they might sell him but if he is highly thought of they might agree to another loan deal

£15m may have been slightly over the top but they won't sign him for less than £10m. He is very highly rated, even though he cant get in the city squad.

I do agree that we should be looking for that type of player from prem clubs but I think Roberts is way out of our reach.

Value for money not one of their strong points.

Who remembers Bob De Bilde and Wim Joke for 5m?

Still turns out they were happy to spend as it wasn't their money but the Co-ops.

They'd do well to remember they are not a rich club. They are a club with a relatively rich owner. Not the same, especially if he loses interest after a while. He hardly watched them as a kid from the Kop like McCabe.

I'm hoping against all hope that they have a shit year again next season and fail once again. If they do, it will be very interesting to see if Ting Tong will still be happy ploughing in his Thai bhat simpsons into the money shit pit. I reckon he's in it for this coming season and if the premier league looks a long way off after this season he will start looking for another less expensive toy project for his young lad. He might take him roller skating or buy him a BMX bike instead as a replacement for the Pigs.

The fact that they have just given Spanish Charlie another deal....as Mr Burns would say....'excellent..'

I think there's a good chance of this one happening. He's 29 and might feel that he's running out of time to make the step up to a higher level. He also knows our manager well.

He would be a luxury signing to add a bit of flair but we have a very solid side so it could be a useful addition.

Apologies Weasel. I misread it. Thought it was up next month

No need to apologise fella. I make mistakes all the time....so my missus is forever telling me....like the times she tells me I've made a mistake as she scrapes my Sunday dinner into the bin when I'm late home from the afternoon session in the ale house with the lads...

It's not spending big money for the sake of it, it's spending big money to be successful.
so it seems like many are pretending they don't want to spend big for some reason?

If you want a reason try looking at the money we got from the league for winning League 1 and the money that the average Championship side got from the league.
It's a huge gap so we are not going to be anywhere near the richest clubs in the Championship therefore spending big has to be realistically lower than most other teams.
Wilder is getting value for money in doing what he did last year. Buy the "player of the season" at clubs in League 1 and 2

City paid £12m for Roberts, they won't take less than that to sell him on. I think I saw something along the lines of a £5m loan fee for him next season - and that's before you start to cover his £20k+ per week wages. This isn't a non-starter for us, it's a non-starter in a different race on a different day at a different course.
