Vast Chasm!

Huiddersfield have proven a smallish budget can go far , in a not vastly superior division
if anything its deteriorated in the past 5 years
Ipswich forest birmingham villa all badly run outfits managing to just cling on in a level league
but one thats dumbed down , not got better

I don't believe the standard is better than 6 years ago.

The difference is that the Championship is now marketed 'better'. It's more of a brand. With that comes more money invested in the league and more news interest.

In a nutshell, clubs pay more for the same old tripe footballers, but team spirit and sound management can unpick that.

the championship is full of dinosaur clubs, former top league dwellers who no longer cut it or have looked like finding the formula to make the difference
CW and Knill have bottled a passion that will take us far next season , theres a belief others only dream of
we are the club with the momentum, and enough decent players to find a path to a challenge

I've made a point of watching quite a bit of championship football this season, mainly because I think it's a far more competitive division than the premier league. In my opinion, the reason why it's a more competitive league, is because none of the sides that play in the championship are actually very good. Newcastle ended up winning the league because they were the most consistent... that's it. They've been on the box quite a lot this season. They weren't particularly amazing in any of their games (that I saw anyway). Sides struggle to string 5 passes together without giving the ball away. I genuinely think the side we have NOW would be comfortable in the championship. Bring it on!

I just cannot wait for us to get started in the Championship. It won't be long before we are right up there setting the pace at the top end of the table then all these Wednesdayites and Radio Sheffield presenters, who have written our season off as a relegation battle before we've even started, can squirm uncomfortably and eat some humble pie.

There is no substitute for hungry players, with a good attitude, chosen because they have talent and managed by a good manager. We will demonstrate that you don't need to spend £10M or more on individual players to be successful. And that is going to make us even more unpopular with our neighbours than ever! GOOD!

The technical ability, of a higher proportion of players in the Championship, is better than in League One. We shouldn't, IMO, underestimate the value of a 'team'. Bournemouth proved that. I have watched quite a few Championship games this last season. I have seen how most of these games have been played at slowish pace, relying on sudden bursts of speed from individuals to create chances. Pretty much like the national team play. Wilder teams move the ball quickly and have much more movement than most teams in the Championship. I suspect we will start the season strongly, maybe being top after ten games as our speed of football catches teams out. However, as teams work out how to play against us, this may change. What I like about Wilder and Knill is, that when the above happens they will change it, probably by bring new players in. I look forward to next season to see how Wilder and Knill adapt. Interesting times ahead.

I think that the Championship used to be full of younger talent on the way up, hungry to make the grade at the highest level.
Now it is full of overpaid fringe Premiership players who have been pushed down a league by the foreign imports.
It is a league where with confidence and a good team ethic you can do very well.
We shouldn't underestimate the league but we certainly shouldn't fear it

The only vast chasm the piglets need to be worried about is the one where Jordan Rhodes' spine used to reside.

To the tune of Country Roads Take Me Home.....

Just too scary
For-est-ieri
Will take it
Oh fuck shit!
Passable but not quite Carlsberg

If we go up we should count ourselves lucky to be playing the footballing powerhouses of Burton, QPR, Norwich, Ipswich, Bolton, Hull, Wednesday, Forest, Fulham, Barnsley... In fact every club in that league are miles ahead of us in every sense.

It's almost like someone's chatting shit, but I trust our neighbours judgement so it can't be that.

Fantastic bloke. Not sure if you or Foxy have heard about the time I was sat drinking with Alan Ford?
Here we go, Mr. Showbiz Tart and his brushes with celebrities. "Did I tell you about the time I was walking down the road and a bloke that looked like Quentin Tarantino asked me the way to Peckham?" :D

So if and it is still a big if we get promoted are we going to be whipping boys in the championship? Listening to the nutters down the road the Championship is now on a par with la liga. I have just read this from a Wendy fan:

"The might be able to cut it in tinpot league but there is a vast chasm of class in between League 1 and The Championship. They will get annihilated on a weekly basis IF they manage to bridge the gap.
Would take huge investment on all fronts to get anywhere near the level they need to even survive this league."

So basically we are screwed there isn't a big gap between league 1 and Championship it is a "Vast Chasm". All sounds like scary stuff, in fact I actually think we should tell the league we don't want promotion because there in no chance at all we can compete with the massive clubs in the Championship.

Thought #Princess ov Pork # had made a comeback....

To answer the OP - if the photo below is not the minimum next season, then our management team is not what I think they are. They might not say it in public, but would be disappointed if it is not the message being drilled into the players on their return. No point competing if it isn't the target.

Wilder won't settle for the play offs, he'll target top two from day one.

Au contraire my porcine pal. As RodCurrie would say, "It's all abart opinions".

I reckon there were more than enough teams there this season that we could've given a game with this year's squad.

We'll be ready.
