Came across really well in the interview on radio sheff fwiw

- talked about moving here in plenty of time so no excuses for next year
- going on holiday now and the will be working hard over he summer to be ready
- boro can in for him but had his heart set on us despite being a boro fan
- said no club could change his mind after seeing the place and feeling the vibe here
- mentioned his memories of us in the fa cup semis
- can't wait to get started
- has played with long and lavery before
- style is an old fashioned winger who likes to cause carnage and have pop and get ball in the box

Looking at the clips of him, he looks capable.

I have faith Wilder can fit him in and shape his game.

Isn't Enda Stevens a left sided player too ? I didn't think we were too bad on the left hand side last season .

Enda Stevens is left wing back.
I guess Tufty is obviously trying to add strength in depth to the left side (in fact probably with most positions). The championship is a tough league over a long season, esp with cup games thrown in

He avoided 'massive', off to a great start. Grammar can come later ;)
He did say "massive club" in his interview with Radio Sheffield and did decsribe us as Sheffield once or twice although he corrected himself once to say Sheffield United

we get 2 less fa cup games and no checkatrade games (thank god i dont want to see our youth players in that unless theyre out on loan somewhere) but glad were recruiting in all positions for next season

Hanson did a great job ,exactly what we required last season ,he still hasn't tasted defeat as a Blade ,he was signed on a 3 year contract in almost certain knowledge that we would be in the Championship ,we wont get a better option and he will prove invaluable next season. We have other positions far more pressing.
We could improve on Hanson. There's not even an argument.

we could but id rather see that money being spent on strengthening other positions if we want to improve on hanson id wait until january

We're going to need more goals, we really haven't got enough upfront apart from Billy. I'm astonished some people think otherwise. Look at our goals record of any attacker apart from Sharp and bare in mind we're moving up a division.

Looks like he has some good potential - and it's great we are looking to sign some of these up and coming talents in the lower leagues. I agree with the posters who have said in this and the other threat that we need to suppliment signings like this with some proven Championship quality.

Anyone got link for his interview?

Relax this is only second week after season finished we have signed 2 expecting Enda Stevens to sign too.

CW wants a squad of 24/25 and we are looking to bring in 7/8 players. One of them he mentioned was a striker.

Not a bad signing, Boro were always likely to want to keep Chapman or flog him for lots of money, Thomas fills a similar role. He's probably not going to be able to immediately step up to be a starter in the Championship, but if we use the same system as last year we won't have a starting left winger on the pitch. Pace is always useful to have off the bench whether you're winning or losing.

As for strikers, it makes sense to see how the strikers do at the beginning of the season unless there's someone amazing available. If anyone leaves, fair enough. but we've got Sharp, Clarke finally looked decent at the end of the season, Hanson is the only target man (Clarke being a target man is a complete myth), Lavery took ages to be fit, but should hopefully be good after a proper pre-season. I would have looked for a guaranteed Championship goalscorer rather than Evans, but as we've signed him, he's going to be given a chance, if he rediscovers his old form and Sharp keeps scoring we don't really need another one and have a variety of options for the bench.

In the season just gone we started with a small squad, sold DCL and Adams, had a bad start, identified the weaknesses and brought players in to rectify that, overloading the squad with strikers now limits the scope for bringing in someone we need later.

that will be six
Sharp
Ched
Clarke
Thomas
Lavery
Hanson

cant see unless one or two move on him buying another striker, he likes a tight squad and people fighting for the shirt, do you think we will see one or more leave?

That puts paid to 235, one full back anyone?

or goalie wag

I'm all for signing young players with potential, hopefully he turns out to be a quality player.

But at this stage he's nothing to get excited about, end of the day we've signed a player who has just been relegated from League Two.

Thomas is a winger really, we definitely need another goalscorer. None have a recent championship track record, infact only Billy has ever scored goals at Champ level before.
Clarke as good as he can be is injury prone. Ched isn't the player he was before and might take a long time to get up to speed anyway. Hanson scored 1 goal after signing for us and Lavery is on the comeback trail from injury.

Pinning all our hopes on Billy could be a disaster and it'd be unfair on him, the squad and us as paying fans.

Leave it to Chris eh?

Aye, but three years? That's a cracking contract to be seeing out if he can't hack the Championship.

Any hint on the fee?

And if he turns out to be another Morris we'll be up in arms that it wasn't a five year deal when he fucks off to Leeds.

I love how every comment that doesn't go exactly with what we've got right now is going against what Wilder is going to do.

There's nothing to suggest he won't improve our frontline. All I'm saying is he'll have to.

We'll be 'Blades' and they will be 'the massive cunts' after an hour of pre-season with Billy and Chris.
