I've never been but it certainly doesn't appeal to me, I have no desire to ever go there.

I got married in Vegas and had the best week of my life followed up with a few days in San Francisco. I'd love to go again.

I find all those type of beers completely tasteless. Coors, Michelob, Bud, Molson, Miller, Corona, etc. The funny thing is, the individual brands have great loyalty, with people swearing by one brand over another. But a few years ago, a large, blind-tasting, research study was done on the same and guess what? People could not tell one brand from another! These beers are a triumph of marketing over actual taste. Corona in particular is a fine example. That beer was regarded as being weak and piss poor in its homeland, Mexico. Then it got bought out by one of the big brewers (Heineken I think) and they mass marketed it, with the signature wedge of lime in the neck of the bottle, and it caught on like wildfire. It still tastes of hardly anything - but the image of it is "cool" and that's why it's so popular there.

Give me cask ale any day but you'll struggle to get that in the US.

Anyhow, hope the boys have a great time despite the beer! They'll have plenty of opportunity to drink good beer when they get home and finish playing.

Corona........was at a bar in Mexico a few years ago, British lad in front of me asked for a Corona, barman hands it over, lad says "can I have a lime wedge in it?", barman says "sorry?", lad says "you know a lime wedge?" and points to the lime wedges in a dish behind the bar, barman says "you want a lime wedge in your beer?, what for?", lad says "er........so it adds flavour?", barman looks at him, puzzled, and says "sure if you want", and puts the wedge on the bottle. The lad says "don't you have lime in your beer?", barman says "yes, but only when you are working outside, it's to keep flies out of the bottle".......

Beer..... there are some great small breweries in the USA, nearly all keg (so, slightly fizzy) not hand pulled, but some good stuff, problem is the big shitty Budweiser style breweries are huge and have millions to spend on advertising. Some people just stick to what they know, a bit like people over here walking into a pub and asking for Carling or John Smith's......

I actually think it's more sleazy now. I much preferred it years ago before the Mexicans were shoving cards for strip joints in your face at every turn, when it was good value for money for food and gambling. Find it REALLY expensive now. Last time we went, spent a couple of days at Sam's Town. More like the old Vegas and dirt cheap. Nothing I like more than a bargain, that Yorkshire is rubbing off on me.

Ale is starting to catch on slowly, there are micro breweries out there and you can find them in liquor stores but Bradfield brewery it ain't

Budejovice was the original great strong tasting Czech beer that was 'imported' under license to the US and ruined basically. Of the current batch available over there only Coors dark (not the lite shite) stands out as flavoursome and worth the money.

I spent a week there last year. Though it's an eye opener and worth a one off visit, I thought it was fairly shit.

Afternoon tea at the Burj was pretty good. The ott opulence everywhere makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Our hotel was pretty good without being extreme. The massages in the hotel were pretty, how shall we say, exotic, or so Mrs NYB told me.
