I saw a report that said we got an extra £6 million just from being in the league above.

That's before increased gates.

I like this bit, says it all!

Accrington Stanley chairman Andy Holt has criticised Premier League clubs over the amount of money they spend - prompting a robust response.

Holt told BBC Radio Lancashire the Premier League's actions filter down to adversely affect clubs in the Football League, which he said was "like a starving peasant begging for scraps".

The Premier League responded: "We will be writing to Mr Holt to ask him if he wishes the Premier League to continue the support we currently provide for his and other clubs in the EFL."

Holt saw the Premier League reaction as a threat, posting on Twitter: "WOW! After all the trouble we have gone to in rescuing @ASFCofficial is the @premierleague really threatening to close us down?"

>>>>

Well done Mr Holt! but don't expect the EFL to stand up for your club and the the other 72 Football League Minos, the EFL are spineless - A small group of people (calling themselves 'The Premiel League') stole our national game in 1992. I hate the Premier League with passion, and all that it stands for :# £ £ £ £ £ £

£4.3m is a lot, but surely to God that's money that would be better directed elsewhere - even if it's just to L1 and L2 clubs. The Championship is full of rich clubs who don't need that sort of assistance.

That's just the way of the world Ricky me owd

What a thoroughly laughably unprofessional response from the Premier League. It really does show their true colours and what they are about. Greed and money for themselves, nothing else.

There just a mini FIFA with all the self interest and probably corruption thrown in. I hope to still be Alice on the day when the Premier Leagues bubble finally pops.

I read that and I totally agree with the chairman of Accrington. The current distribution reminds me of the Tory's who say that the wealth earned from the big businesses will trickle downwards through wealth creation! We all know it doesn't! The top few are rich and the rest who are on reasonable normal wages actually make the money for the rich guys. You know that if you don't like it they'll find someone else who will do your job for you, which is what the Premier League rep is saying when he says "well if you don't like it we'll stop giving you the little we are doing already"!

I was only 12 when the Premier League was formed and it seemed great that we were a part of it and Deano scored the first goal etc. But its just made the rich richer and the rest having to break the bank to get there often with foreign owners who then lose interest and then it goes tits up. We'll that's what I'm hoping for the Pigs anyway!

Alice...Who the fuk is Alice.....

Bloody predictive text. Meant to say 'alive' but perhaps I might be a transvestite when I'm old and ready to pop mi clogs, and calling mi sen Alice after all.

"But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here."

It's late and you are picking on me. I'm off to bed !!! Love mad Alice. X

Not sure I would feel safe venturing alone on this forum without a chaperone if I get dressed up as Alice. There's too many of you who will all be nicey nicey with me but really just want to see my fluffy bunny.

Just to add my two-penneth, the sheer arrogance of the Premier league is breath taking in it's self-regard. Surely it wouldn't have been beyond the capabilities of the Premiership's supposed expertise to carve a relative slice of funds for Lg 1 and 2? Clearly, given what Championship clubs receive, would it not be possible to give Lg1 clubs approx 4-500k each, and Lg2 clubs about 150-250k each? Not enough to cause clubs at this level to sit back and relax, but surely a welcome amount, especially for those clubs who exist on gates below 6-7k........if the Prem have no regard for the existence of lower divisions, or the history that supports the romance of such adventures as the FA Cup. then they ought to shut up shop, send every club they regard as unimportant into the mist of obscurity and preen themselves on the riches that they've grown fat on. Where will talent be able to blossom if the Prem treads on these lesser clubs? Will anyone connected with the Prem have the imagination and concern to take a serious look at supporting these increasingly disenfranchised clubs? I doubt it, but I hope we're not about to see the the life support of these clubs turned off simply because of football's equivalent of Philip Green.

I don't know why everyone is so arsey about the PL as they do a great job in keeping alive all teams in the lower leagues .

Just consider the facts in all of this . With all the money that the PL gives every team in Leagues 1 and 2 , Man United could use that and pay Zlatan for another 1 year .

Just think about this before getting your ungrateful knickers in a twist .

Ok so all the clubs in the lower divisions should bow down and say "thank you for the scraps, thanks sir, please sir I want some more.... MORE! " Who gave the PL carte Blanche on our national sport, EFL have so much power but dont want to use it, Why? because those at the top of the EFL are on a good thing and don't want to rock the boat. The EFL (like a union) should be looking after their members, what would the Premier League be without the EFL's promotion system, would Sky keep pumping money in to the PL if the PL had no relegation each year and had the same teams year in year out?

The first bit is an utter bollocks statement in my opinion. For every Philip Green there are good bosses and companies who look after their employees and maintain good conditions and wages. Don't believe it, then go run your own business and tell me how easy it is.

However, sport shouldn't be connected to business. There is enough money in the Premier League alone to run all 92 clubs and keep them in profit so long as everyone shares the wealth. I've said this before, it is where socialism could/should actually work. But the self interest of the top 6 combined with the might of Sky means this will never be. Problem is every one of us has the means to bring sky to its knees. Cancel the subscription and tell them to fuck off. Don't watch the next thrilling instalment of Hull v Burnley.

It is all fine and dandy oh blaming everyone else for the worlds problems in a Corbyn type way, but turn off sky and then you can truly say you have done your bit.

Just be our 'luck' for the Championship payments to be reduced to 10/- Bob and the EFL wealth to be given to given to lower league clubs to support them in such piss poor leagues. And for good measure we will get a 10 point deduction for getting promoted and not using illegally registered players.

We're delving into politics here mate and that's totally my fault but I'll do my best to answer without saying anything you've said is bollocks because I do get much of what you say and yes I don't run my own business. It is possible to run a business - I believe - where the employees are rewarded for their hard work and endeavour. In my job recently, I along with with other colleagues, worked our socks off doing extra work which made thousands of extra pounds for the business I rang. What did I get out of it? Nothing, other than I keep my job, although I got expenses to get to work and have something to eat at lunch - a luxury I don't get on my normal contract but something that higher level bosses take for granted. The problem is and this is the same as football: The reason that the lower workers will never be paid what their worth is because those at the top end often have a higher proportion of the wealth and obviously don't want to take a lower wage so that its more evenly distributed. That is obviously pure socialism or a communist principle but it doesn't work and I know that - largely due to mans greed. Then you've got the shareholders and the huge bonuses the top bosses get when as I say its the normal workers who really make it happen.

I'm not saying that bosses don't work hard. In particular If its a small business I know a boss who has to work almost all hours of the day etc. But you as well as I know that its a fact that the wealth distribution is owned by the top few percent across the country and the world as a whole and those that are in that position will do everything they can to keep it that way.

Back to football and what the Premier League has done is make it a totally unfair system where the difference between the Prem and the rest is just so ridiculous as the graph of money from TV rights shows from another page I saw on here. It makes it a totally unfair playing field and also causes huge problems financially both for those coming down from the prem - even with the parachute payments (due to mis management granted, like what happened to Bolton and Leeds) but also for teams trying to get there spending too much.

Finally Corbyn speaks a lot of sense in my view. I find what he says is usually spot on but he's not a charismatic leader - doesn't fit the media profile and therefore has been hounded from minute one by the press. Off to work now - enjoy your day mate!

Really appreciate your response. I don't agree politically but your point on the Premier League is on the money. The money from TV is off the scale and while market forces can be a good thing, in sport I'm afraid it really isn't. Football in this country has something precious in its 92 clubs. I'd be happy if 6 of them fucked off to play Real Madrid and Milan every 4 weeks and left the rest of us to it.

Also appreciate your reasoned response to my somewhat firey kick off. As I say, politics and football shouldn't mix. Ever :)

Can't disagree with any of that.
