Yeh I heard it.
It's Steven Sylvester, the mysterious black bloke in the Chesterfield end of match medal presentations. He's the official club psychologist and anyone within any anxieties, mental health issues is allowed to speak with Steve. Better to deal with it before anything gets out of hand.
Hawksby and Jacobs were discussing the recent Aaron Lennon mental health/ depression incident.
Sylvester talked about the roles of Facebook and Twitter and how today's players are under so much pressure to perform otherwise they receive personal abuse. He said many players may suffer from mental health issues which manifests itself in different ways. Hawksby and Jacobs said that being a club psychologist may be a growth industry as all clubs may end up employing full time psychologists.
Sylvester said he currently works for Sheff Utd in the Winter and Middlesex Cricket club in the Summer.
He talked about it being natural to have an ego and most players are selfish but he tries to coax them into thinking more about the team than themselves. He also plugged his latest book "Detox your Ego" and said how it can be applied to improving normal everyday life, not just professional sport.
He said Chris Wilder has been fantastic, trusted him and allowed him full access to his players.
He said happy players, who are able to discuss issues, be if personal or professional are generally able to perform better. He said he's makes himself available to the players 24 hours a day if they wish to chat about anything.
Hawksby and Jacobs said that both Middlesex and Sheffield United are currently champions, they said it might be a coincedence but maybe his effect as club psychologist is more significant than he thinks.
