I hope you are correct. But even if he's as fit as he can possibly be, I find it hard to see how someone who's barely kicked a ball in 5 years is suddenly going to bang in 20 goals, particularly in a division he struggled in before
He's a quality player and has had a season, albeit one littered with injury to get back up to match fitness.
A full preseason with the Wilder team and he'll be as fit as he was five years ago, if not fitter.
As for Championship level, he was playing in sides at United which wanted him to play with his back to goal or chase lost causes and yes, there will be elements of this in the Championship. but alongside Billy, Hanson or Leon, it gives him the option to play facing the goal. In addition, like Billy, he's a much stronger and physical player than he was a few years ago.
Wilder is also a very savvy manager, able to work with players, take Leon for example, almost a season of poor form and injury and he's had the confidence and patience with him to bring him back and play him for the final few games and he's repaid that faith
The final, most important point is the style of play (touched upon above), we play in a very creative manner. I personally think that as a finisher, Ched is as good, potentially better than Billy. Billy has additional attributes such as his tenacity, but as a natural finisher, Ched perhaps edges it.
When you take out all of the moral and off the pitch issues, Ched is a very good footballer. He proved many fans wrong when he scored a lot of goals in league one when he was played in the right way. Whether Ched achieves 20 goals will be down to him, we have to recruit a few more championship level creative players, but i think alongside Billy and if we can defend better, we don't need to adjust the style of play to fit Ched in. Ched slots straight in.
Its down to him (and staying injury free)
