Most interesting transfer window ever?

Yes, I think so.

We've finally got a manager who's good in the transfer market, and most players we're linked with are players I'd be happy for us to sign. It's also a long time since we've been in this market so it is interesting.

We're on the verge of building a squad of quality way beyond anything we've had for 7/8 years.

I reckon 4 or 5 new signings. No big names. Cover at centre half, goalkeeper, maybe a wide player, another midfielder or defender and Ched.

The indications are the core squad remains intact which I think is the right thing to do. Evolution not revolution.

I'm not expecting it to be exciting but solid and sensible.

I think there may be a surprise signing

Perhaps a proven Championship striker? Perhaps a proven Championship centre back?

The rest being as Cerberus says

The Sun today reckons Wilder will be backed to the hilt, although they have to be within budget. So, depends what that budget is of course, but if the bullish comments from the owners are to be taken as read, then I think we will step up to the plate

I am really interested to see how CW recruits quality without bringing in high wage earners to upset the harmony cart. Success will undoubtedly bring its financial rewards for the players, but done uniformly in an uplifting and harmonious way, to maintain the team spirit.

Imagine if Wilder signs some underwhelming lower league players or players that have previously struggled in the Championship.

Normally there would be criticism and understandable concern BUT things have changed now because Wilder has done so great things in the previous transfer widows he's earnt the phrase "trust in Wilder".

Our manager could buy Micky Mouse and Donald Duck and I'd not feel qualified to question his signings.
So far, everything Wilder touches turns to gold because he has this knack of getting players to produce the best form of their careers.

Memory may be a bit fuzzy but when we got promoted first time from Div 3 under Porterfield didnt we make the marquee signings of Russell Black and Don Peatie..... I'm thinking we'll do better this time

If they give him a tenner and it all goes then we are in up to the hilt.

The Chesterfield game showed me a few things.

We need some pace at the back
Some bite in midfield alongside fleck and coutts at time.
Pace outwide and upfront.

Evans signing is fine if it's cheap but I want him to be considered as depth going into the. New season

Interesting - definitely .

Bizarre - possibly . I'm not really sure how else I can describe the signing of an ex-central defender of ours . Both parties are keen , just the question of wages to sort .

Name of a big cat?

Jagielka . I thought this was pretty much common knowledge ?

EDIT . I've just checked the rumour page and there's only one thread 2 pages in . Apologies there .

I would be over the moon with that but he would walk into any bottom half premiership teams imo.

I don't see us signing proven Championship players. We won't be paying such fees.

Wilder will have a few million I imagine and will sign half a dozen that will be a mix of players ready to step up a level with one or two young players not getting in at clubs higher up.

He will be looking to unearth hidden gems that have been on the scouting radar. People thinking of the Will Hughes and Tammy Abrahams of this world are dreaming. We're not in that market yet.....

Wilder will find some good ones. Leave it to him but don't expect proven Championship players. That won't happen.

From what I've heard he's really interested in the move .

I'd love it to happen too ..... A back 3 of Brayford RCD Jags CM and JOC LCD looks great ...... but I can't see the issue of wages being resolved .

So you'd stick Brayford straight ahead of Freeman after what he's done this season??

Totally agreed. There are plenty of players at league one level we have seen that can do more than well in the championship which won't break the bank. Look for players that's wilder can work with, not players who think they are already there and think they have nothing to prove

Well if half of his signing come up to the mark next season, I'll be happy.
More than that and he's hit the jack pot......:)
