Just seen the thread on a 'new big screen' which is good news as the old one is a bit pixelated.

Is there any info on other improvements/new stuff for the ground or the matchday experience as we enter the Championship?

Are we actually getting electronic advertising boards around the edge of the pitch?

(Maybe the excitement of this season hasn't worn off yet...) :)

I would like us to scrap the family stand, let it be open to all who wish to sit in that side of the ground,do so

I realise it will not happen
I hope it doesn't.

There are a minority of fans who still think it's right not to expose their kids to foul language and moronic behaviour.

I moved from my season ticket on the kop to the south stand when I started taking my kids. Why? Because they wouldn't have seen much of the game due to pissed up fans getting up every 5 minutes to go for a pie or a piss.

I also didn't want them to hear disgusting language and think it was "normal".

We've never used foul language in the home. Maybe a " bugger" or "bloody", but never "F" or "C" words.

The South Stand isn't perfect though. My kids have heard foul language there too, but they understand this is the language of the gutter and dont repeat it at home.

I think there is a need to have areas of the ground where respectful behaviour is the norm.

For that reason I think we should have areas like the family stand where parents with standards can feel comfortable to take their kids.

I swear like a sailor's parrot, but my daughter knows not to repeat it. It's not the "language of the gutter", it's just language.

The game has change. The demographic of those attending has changed. There seems to be an element that are wanting/ trying to recreate a sort of retro 80s vibe, others a continental pyro party. Neither are pertinent or applicable to that new fan base. Our best atmosphere happens at half-time in the concourse, hardly support for the team. It may be time to embrace this a bit more, if we have a family stand/section why not a safe pyro/singing section as well. It might help with atmosphere and move it from the concourse to the stands. Hopefully the safe standing movement gains momentum and the sweary, smokey, flamey can join together for the game rather than the interval.

There will be a free pyro with every programme which will include detailed instructions on how to launch the fucker to ensure it always hits a child, old woman, wheelchair user or muslim,(see flob thread).

I might be wrong, but when the new John Street stand first opened, wasn't it split down the middle, half the family stand, half general sale? This would seem like a decent compromise as the family stand usually is never completely full.

Jesus Christ kids hear and use worse at school than anything they hear at Bramall Lane the difference is you are not there to be embarrassed by being with them.

How are they going to sing 'head the fucker back' and 'you wendy bastards' if they cant swear ?

Whatever happens with the big screen lets just hope they put something useful on it as at the moment it's just a big advertising screen.
What about some match action with goal replays like the big boys do. I don't really bother turning my head to look at it at the moment as it's just a waste of space.

The only times I've ever heard my dad swear were at the Lane.

My parents never swore around me and I never though about swearing infront of them but when I was at school I swore like a trooper. Try all you like not to expose them but they will already know most of the words and use them with mates.

I don't get this obsession with goal line technology. It's extremely rare that a 'goal' is ruled out because it's not certain if the ball crossed the line or not. Far more prevalent are dodgy offsides where - understandably - the lino gets caught by not being up for a quick attack.
Also becoming more prevalent is players deliberately trailing a leg to win a pen. (Three on MoTD last weekend). In the case of the latter, I suppose there'd be a 2-week 'crackdown' which is quietly dropped - rather like awarding a pen. when there's 'wrestling' in the box from corners. See Shawcross R.

Not sure whether I like these as they can be a distraction. I also don't understand the criteria for deciding who gets these - bigger fan base? Reading have them, Huddersfield have them but we don't. If it's TV exposure, the pigs would have had them years ago.

Joking apart as I believe a "family" area is an absolute necessity, I can't see why it can't be relocated to one end of the JSS or one end of the NSS so that families can sit together in a family atmosphere and feel safe with young kids.

I know that this would mean some existing season ticket holders would have to move but it's being done by many clubs before, and it's not like anyone would have to change stands so they could all end up with similar vantage points to those they have now.

The club know exactly who affected season ticket holder would be, and they could even look to relocate them in blocks so that people are still sat close to the people they now share their match day experience with.

Children are our future, and we are now reaping the benefit of many years of progressive family friendly policy as McCabe proudly boasts that we have more young fans through the turnstiles than the other lot.

Let's build on it.

Short term pain for some season ticket holders but long term gain for the club moving forwards.

Wednesday are too massive and don't need to entertain sponsorship. That's why the fish monger has his own name on their kit.

FFS SBT, aren't you aware of the dangers of a beard catching it.
