Here and there throughout the season I've been a critic of Lafferty.

Even though I still stand by my words about his left foot, I do regret posting negativity about a player who has been vital for us this season.

He has worked hard for us, he has provided us with more balance ever since he joined. Has provided us with important assists, scored a wonder goal, scored the winner against Chesterfield to get us to 100 points.

As much as I've moaned about Lafferty I've never really given him any praise. And now, I praise him for joining our club, being a great servant in our fantastic season.

Thank you Daniel Lafferty

As LWB hes not great . But if we do revert to a more traditional back 4 he'll be easily good enough for the Championship . Hes a got a great turn of pace and reads the game very well . Apparently , hes the fastest player over the first 10-15 yards thats at the Club . And yes , that particular little stat surprised me too .

I still can't find the interview where he says he'll drink a hundred pints (one for every point) before vegas (so today). Any link?

Well that's disappointing. New thread a short time after they've landed. Thought is was going to be about the first player caught dancing in the fountain in the hotel atrium:(.

Where ? On his facebook page ?

Whilst i am please you have changed your mind over Lafferty, i am afraid mine has not.

He has been a reasonable LWB this season in league one. I just can not see how he can improve enough to make an impact as a Championship LWB. We need more pace in that position with better distribution. However if we go to a flat back four i can see him making a decent Left Back.

I 100% applaud his achievements this season with the other members of the squad but in my opinion as a LWB he could be a weak link next season. For all that, i would like nothing more than this set of players to step up next season and prove me wrong.

Don't understand your reservations about the left foot of a left footed player, surely you mean he just can't pass?

I had reservations about Lafferty and Freeman at the beginning of the season, never thought they were poor just, well, unsure if the were good enough, however they have both been a major reason fir success this season, Lafferty for me is an outstanding defender, arguably the best at the club but isnt great going forward, perhaps the opposite of Freeman? However I was also wrong and pleased to admit it.

I've got a lot of gripes about him but I will leave that for a later date, what I will say though is when a tricky winger comes at him with pace 9 times out of 10 he stops them in their tracks, usually coming away with the ball too.

Maybe a little left field (deliberate pun!!)
Could Lafferty be converted to be part of a back three
No one disputes he is a great defender more often than not winning the ball, but just not got the engine for a wing back role
