Prince & McCabe: "We want Lionel Messi"

they mentioned everything apart from the "M" word....MONEY!!!

I particularly liked what the Prince said, very positive and I'm sure he knows if he and a few of his associates give support at the right time a return to the Premiership in the next few years is a possibility. The important thing in my opinion will be to buy a small number of very good players this summer, and not just a bigger number of average players to make up a big squad, and to then to gradually improve the squad by buying better players rather than lots of players.

Thank you Prince Adullah, please lets see if we can go forward from here.

One thing for me is that Wilder will be absolutely determined to win the league. He will need large backing to stop him being tempted away. Knowing Wilder his target will definitely not be mid table.

Lets draw a line regarding the past and look to the future, mccabe and the Prince are talking positive, not much more they can do at the moment so lets get behind them and see what happens

The thing I find most uplifting about this is that McCabe's got his mojo back. He's been trying to offload us for years and got half way there via the Prince. Sounds like he's caught the same bug as the rest of us.

To be more precise...

McCabes got his mojo back because he senses for the first time in over a decade that he might get his money back and sell out when we reach the Prem.

Which I'm sure will happen on both counts.

Sounds positive...

Of course the proof of the pudding....

for the princes heavy accent he speaks quite good english and it sounds like he is going to be more involved with the club, how often do we see foreign owners or managers not being able to speak english in football nowadays

With respect your reply is a bit cynical, I don't now what McC thinks and you might be right but the truth might also be that he's a genuine blade fan and for years he's been hanging on in there stuffing in millions hoping it might come good eventually and knowning no one else would. People that are that rich don't live and die by what their footy team does, its a hobby, they make sure their other interests keep them in a decent lifestyle regardless. Mistakes have been made but why do so many of our fans assume our owners are bad people, if so they would have legged it long ago, personally I think some respect is due, not total but some. Who else would have taken us to where we are now ?

Not very often if they are international businessmen and royalty.

Yes it was a bit cynical.

For what it's worth I think McCabe is a benign benefactor who has done the club good and bad in equal amounts. His decision making has been appalling and almost ruined the club. But I believe his intentions have always been good. That's always a dilemma in any walk of life isn't it? Sometimes you just have to try and separate the actions from the intentions to see the real person.

I don't think his appointment of Wilder was shrewd either. I think he was serendipitous. His motive was to find a cheap option and Wilder fitted the bill. I'm sure McCabe is pinching himself now to realise what a good manager he has got.

Compared to previous Chairmen he's a saint. And what I'm saying is, he has wanted out for years, he's made that clear before now, and the club is now on an upward trend. He's not altogether stupid and will realise that Wilder has the ability to take this club onto the Prem. And he has - make no mistake about that. And McCabe would be silly to walk away now because in the next 2 or 3 seasons at most (I believe it will be sooner than that) McCabe will have half a Premier club to sell.

And that's the time to cash in and hand over to the Prince or a Chinese consortium.

Print this off and come back and tell me if I'm wrong.

McCabe already stated Wilder is here for the long term no club will pinch him he's got his dream job ,financial reward will come Along side success how many of us would love to be in his position, would money be the driving force ?, no way !!
we love the club as he does and financial reward is a 2ND to bringing success to our club.In Chris Wilder we trust

Thanks and having been out of the loop a fair bit with various things I'd not really picked up on the apparent desire of McC to sell. If this is the case I hope we learn from out last premiership season. Trying to blag through on the cheap with fingers crossed doesn't really work, better to decide what you want and then go get it and a have bit more in reserve to make sure you get it. A strange concept for some to understand at BDTBL I know but its how the big boys work and how they stay in the higher leagues. No more cutting it fine please.

You aren't the first by any means to work out that a PL return isKevin McCabes only chance to get his money back. It's been obvious for years to many but we're finally on the way to making that happen. Hopefully.

Of course, it's not an argument that the fuckwits who reckon he's never wanted promotion from this league as he "makes money from it" will ever accept. Then again, they'll not believe in helicopters either.

On the subject of " getting his money back " , i wonder what price McCabe AND the Prince would put on us in a potential sale ?

Interesting discussion and I've seen this recurrent theme on here of owners wanting to get their money back many times.

For seriously rich people its nice to get their money back and a profit but when rich folk are already making a wealthy living on non sporting activities at the same time I would suggest for some they'd like to make a profit but at the end of the day its just a bit of fun, a hobby, a gamble. If they lost a big chunk of it it wouldn't change their lifestyle because they have enough millions elsewhere to spare.

When I encounter rich people doing stuff like this I always ask myself if they are doing it for a quick buck or just as a hobby or a bit of fun and I've not seen much evidence its for a quick buck in our case.

I don't care about Messi. When are the bids for Maguire, Jagielka and Walker going in? That's what we all care about.
