Sorry to be a killjoy but what more can the club do to to clamp down on this?

Several people on The Kop and John Street needed medical attention for breathing difficulties yesterday after the idiots in the back corner let off and threw a smoke bomb down the stand. I've been thinking about taking my youngest son to a few games next season but had he been there today he would have suffered an asthma attack and would almost certainly be put off ever going again.

I know a lot of other fans & parents are in the same position and something needs to be done.

Do the club need to go as far as planting undercover coppers within the these areas to catch them in the act?

PSV certainly overdid it recently...

Don't they have cctv on the kop ?

If so watch it back find who threw it and ban them. Simple

Do we have to have this debate after every game. Pyros have their advantages and disadvantages but as we've got a huge contingent of wannabe Turks and pyromaniacs we've got to get used to them. I still maintain that they are much safer when used correctly and not lobbed about due to fear of being banned so, therefore, I'd like to see them legalised, in the interests of safety if nothing else.

If you are taking a young boy, why would you take him on the kop anyway? If you are a ST holder on the kop, swap it for the family stand and buy him a ticket there. For a start, he will actually be able to see the game and I have never seen s flare go off there.

One of the two smoke bombs that were thrown hit a young lad on the row behind me and the chief steward for that area came up to collect it. When the understanably irate Dad told him to get stewards up there he said " We have them on camera we know exactly who are they are", so presumably 3 people will be getting themselves banning orders and missing out on seeing us for the next couple of seasons at least

The problem is, the majority of fans can use pyro correctly but you will always have some twat throwing one and ruining it for those that can use it safely.

It's like drinking ale in the stands, we should as football fans be able to do this without issue. But the idiot minority would ruin it for everyone else. I went to Dortmund for the recent England friendly, the majority were drinking in the stand without issue but as usual the dickheads started throwing the plastic cups about, some of them with ale still in!

So unfortunately pyro needs to stay banned because the pricks that use it can't be trusted to use it safely.

We sit on A block of family stand, right next to Kop where it was thrown. Medics had to see to at least 2 others around us

Sadly, your desire to take your son to watch the Blades on the kop is considered less important than the right of idiots to throw smoke bombs.

We don't have "to get used to them" We have to weed them out and get rid of them before they do serious damage.

Not digging out the O/P in particular here, but speaking more generally. This referring to fellow Blades as "morons" or suchlike. Happens far, far too often.

We all know it isn't just those who chuck flares who are being seen as "morons". It's also those who use them, those who associate with those who use them, those who join in with the singing etc when a flare's let off, those who condone flares, those who don't criticise the use of flares, etc, etc, etc.

Take the (amazing) scenes from MK for instance. Are all those in that concourse involved in such joyous scenes "morons", or just "us"?

Exactly. Fans shouldn't have to "get used" to their kids having asthma attacks at matches or have to move from the seats they've occupied for the last 19 seasons

What did the medics actually do? o_O

I couldn't see from where I was but I would imagine they would be given an oxygen mask or something

It's like the pitch invaders.

At Northampton they were jubiliant Blades.

Then against Bradford they were morons.

Then presumably those yesterday who fully respected the clubs wishes by not encroaching were alright again. Or maybe they were still morons but not visible. It's a Schrodingers Moron type of dilemma.
