All was well in the world of Sheffield United a couple of hours ago, I walk into the office, coffee 1 shug in hand, log on to the forum, click this thread, and its all pandemonium

I've not had chance to read too much about this, but how come we're paying anything? Didn't he sign a 12 month contract with Chesterfield, so unless he signed a new contract through the season wouldn't he be available on a free?

I'm not overly bothered about Ched's history, as it is just that - history. I'm surprised this is happening, but really it seems many fans are creating hysteria about the potential hysteria. It'll blow over this time.

As ive said I'll only be comfortable with this when I know Wilder is on board but the bloke just wants to earn a living. I doubt anyone on here knows if him threatening to sue the club - although it will give some the opportunity to knock McCabe even though they might have been pro Evans in the past - is the cause of this deal, which seems unlikely, so leech and chancer are unfair comments IMO.

I have no idea of the ins and outs. If it's a Wilder decision, well then he's the Gaffer and it doesn't matter whether it sits well with me or not.

But if this is some sort of compromise to prevent him suing us, then thats just bollocks.

Is this some kind of 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' scenario where KM is like Windsor Davies and thinks Ched is his long lost son?

Well he took the PL/FA/West Ham on so I doubt a legal case would have phased him. Perhaps he does like the lovely boy as you say.

Never been ITK before in my life. May still not be. Dunno.

But.

I am aware that as recently as January 2017, there was a difference of opinion at board level (specifically CEO Steve Bettis) and our current management team on the subject of Ched Evans.

Maybe someone's been overruled. Maybe someone has mellowed in their overall view.

What I do know is that a fully fit Ched Evans, with a point to prove, could be more than useful for us next season.

Still we have the pessimists who don't trust Wilder's judgement after the season we've just had. No way is this signing not of CW's approval. Hang onto your hats - if Evans gets fully fit (he'll not get near the subs bench if not) and shows the form we know he's capable of (see comment above) then a top 6 spot is just for starters........
When did he do anything in the championship ? back to being the laughing stock of footy again

Great season. After years of demise and shit, we finally get it together and go North. All of us expecting the promised 'game changing investment', sensible signings based on Wilder's requirements and a solid position in the Championship.

Well, this has certainly fucking changed the game. Just when I was begrudgingly thanking McCabe for not flogging our talent, he shits 500 large on a fucking footballing pariah.

Here's the deal, McCabe. He either bangs in at least twenty next season (in a front line of at least eleventy goals) and we are in the playoffs and succeed as a minimum, or you can go back to bellendsville.

This is a rather poor judgment day at BDTBL.

As I said, I'll be in New Zealand. I just won't feel inclined to spend the amount of time I currently do reading about it and trying to get up very early to watch it when the club clearly doesn't share my values. I don't want to be unable to cheer when someone scores and I couldn't bring myself to do it if he did, as I didn't when King scored his solitary goal.

It won't make a difference to the club if I did desert it. But it would make a difference to me if I didn't. In my mind he's guilty and deserved exactly what he got.

Well it's a good job you're not a judge then, because all the evidence currently says he isn't.
Whether you or I like it or not, you cannot call him a rapist.
And how does a football club share the values of its fan base exactly? My estimate...50k fans, all different with different morals.
If Evans had scored 40 goals this season, got back in the Wales team then just about every team in the land would be after him. Football clubs core business is football, that is what determines whether a football club survives. So decisions that affect the football club need to be based on footballing decisions first and foremost.
You don't choose a football team based on your values, you choose it based on football. You choose a political party on its values, I suggest you concentrate on that.

If this is not Wilder's decision or at least supported by him, he is in his own right to walk and if he walks i walk.

Mr Wilder, as a long time fan of this club, has seen with his own eyes the absolute monster of a striker that is buried inside that broken man. He probably also fancies his chances of ressurecting it. If he does then 500k is a snip.
Monster striker ...did f*** all in the championship didnt he ? had his day and I dont want to believe our manager has had anything to do with this what a joke we are again

Shocked to be honest

Did I want Ched to resign? No not really

Do I think he's worth £500k? No I don't

However, if true this has been going on for some time then it must have been with Wilders endorsement.
There's no way the club would jeopardise the status quo after this seasons achievements.
I also believe that if this was against Wilders wishes, he would probably have already walked by now, or at least not talked about the challanges of life in the Championship next season

I don't believe this will affect the long term strategy of the club. However, I don't really see the benefits of this signing

If it happens it will be interesting to see the response if it comes off and he scores goals and plays well, everybody and his dog has an opionion but some of the comments I have read in the last half hour are over the top, I cannot believe Wilder wouldn't be on board, I have no idea how good he would be but the old ched, the one Wilder and Knill knew would be a good addition, question is, is he any good now? The past " problems" mean nothing to me, he was innocent move on, its a football decision nothing else.

Fucking hell what a way to sour a wonderful season. I thought this shit was water under the bridge I should have know better, with this club every silver lining has a cloud. This decision stinks of McCabe, stinks to high heaven, just look at this thread we already have fan against fan where yesterday we were as one. It is not as if you could say he will regain the form of that season where him and piggy Rhodes were neck and neck in the scoring charts. If this season is anything to go by his fitness is way down which has led him to be injured every few weeks. It is a massive risk football wise, squad harmony wise it is madness don't do it United, nothing at all to suggest he will get back those lost footballing years we really don't need to be taking such a gamble or is this a snap shot of the level of investment we will see next season from McCabe and the Prince. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
