Without it as it is, Saudi Arabia would be in civil war, the Islamists would run a mock and everybody would be dying on the streets. For a vivid image of what Saudi would look like without an oppressive leadership, see Aleppo.

Er they are Islamists and they've funded them as well.
The Taliban also ran a tight ship in Afghanistan between 1996-2001.....

And then ourselves and the US got involved and the lot went up. Just like it did in Libya, just like it is doing in Syria. Moral: if something is working, don't change it, even if it seems immoral in your opinion., especially with something as delicate as Islamic, middle eastern civilisation.

It's easy to judge from a distance. I worked in Saudi Arabia for a while, actually in the SW corner in bin Laden country. I was treated with respect, earned a decent wedge and my personal safety was never an issue. The system there is the antithesis of what I'm used to but it works for them and they are no worse than USA, Russia, China etc. in the grand scheme of things. Plenty of football teams have owners from these three on board but as usual it's us who are cast as the bad guys.

Sure the prince would like to be lid twat this year....

or maybe he can go pick dog eggs off the training ground, be like colin, a massive blade

That's some predictive text system you've got there!

It seems to have a random word organiser thrown in too.

Everyone connected to United managed to get to Old Trafford last year no matter where they were based or what position they held elsewhere

Made sense to me...Prince will put the lid of the trophy on his head and watch it fall off..if no lid I'm sure we can throw him a pie dish or summat.

As for the dog eggs....its colin all over..

Without wishing to be controversial.................................................

...............I hope he doesn't. The Saudi government is among the most corrupt in the world and any money he has is almost certainly tainted. I'd like HRH The Prince to sod off out of our club altogether. We are the Sheffield People's club, and not the plaything of an oil-rich oligarch, thanks very much.

nb All opinions expressed above are my own.

There speaks the voice of the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire, the kind of thinking that has contributed to Sheffield United FC winning fuck all since 1925. But we've got our principles, eh? FFS TBW, maybe, just maybe, he will be good for our football club and the least we can do is give him a chance to do it. Chill boy, chill:)

Anyway, all this talk of "Sheffield people", aren't you from Chesterfield?;)

"Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Sheffield United’s co-owner, has been appointed the new general president of youth welfare by Saudi Arabia’s rulers, writes James Shield. He was handed the role, which is the Middle Eastern kingdom’s equivalent of the Minister of Sport, when its previous holder, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, relinquished the position earlier this week....etc"
looks like most kids there are sired by the bin man

It's called "predictable" text. Straight from the Corbyn manifesto.

We agreed not to mention that, BB! ;)

Anyway, I was born and grew up in New Whittington which is 4 miles from Chesterfield Town Centre and about the same distance from the Yorkshire border. So there.

In keeping with modern football...

I couldnt give a flying shit were our owners come from or were and how they have got their millions..

The bloke at Orient has got millions from waste management , but ain't spending it .

The worst regime - CoOp Bank .

We are ok with the set up we have .

He saw us at our lowest point (Losing to Rotherham 1-3 away).
He saw us again as plucky, gallant losers (Losing to Hull 3-5 at Wembley)
It would be good for him to see us at our best as strong, jubilant winners (Home v Bradford or Chesterfield).

Show him that he hasn't wasted his money after all.
Give him more desire and incentive to invest.
Depends on how many air miles he has:)

The fundamental question is TBW, "does tha qualify to play fo' Yorkshire, mi lad"?

I do:)

Showing my age there aren't I and some young bucks probably don't know what I'm on about...................

But those who matter do;)

I hope he comes to the Chesterfield game, gets caught up in it all and then goes and sees his Grandad or whoever and secures £10 billion pounds for us

Give us lots of money for immediate promotion to the premier league ya tight bastard.

There. I've said it. Someone had to.

I'd say enough money to remain in the Championship and look like eventual contenders within five years.

Immediate promotion would be a disaster.

pommpey

I'm guessing it's because there's a good chance we'd struggle to compete at that level if we went up before we're ready, like Sunderland or Derby in the past. If we went down with a very low points total it could cost CW his job. Conversely, if we stayed up after back to back promotions CW might get an offer he can't refuse from a bigger club.

If CW stays a bit more under the radar and rebuilds us slowly over two or three years, our foundations would be much stronger and gives us a better chance of staying up and pushing on.

Of course, we could do a 'Bournemouth' or a 'Leicester' even but that would be less likely.

I'm not sure there is a 'best way' to do it but I can see there are potential pitfalls of moving too quickly and, with our past record of managerial appointments, the most important thing is keeping CW and his team at the club for as long as possible. Better steady growth than boom and bust.

All fair points but then you have the flip sides, will Wilder want to go anywhere after achieving back to back promotions?, the momentum of back to back promotions will also certainly help us stay up while the money will be huge for us and if we do come back down, we'll have the parachute payments to help us build properly.

Do accept my apologies Kev if I've misunderstood, but you've got no misgivings where a potential owner of SUFC has acquired his wealth? So human trafficking, wealth that's been accrued from running paedophile sites etc? I'm sure you have lines that you'd never want us to cross, no matter how much wealth was involved. Again, sorry in advance, but sometimes I feel we should all take a deep breath before wishing for unimaginable wealth. Someone, somewhere, will have paid an awful price in order for some other bugger to lead a life of extreme good fortune.
