The edge.
How do you think our current squad compared to the one that we had over the last couple of seasons in the championship??
I'd wager our current squad would put seven past the two hats.
Seriously, taking stock of that disastrous season when ale house Mickey took us down, the players we had were shot.
Whatever happened to Daniel bogdanovic???

completely agree , the current squad would batter that team!

it was clear for a long while we were going down, the club was rotting - full of underperforming players , players who didnt give a shite and all on massive wages , appalling loan players and a manager who clearly didnt have a clue how to stop the rot - as others have said this started when McCabde for reasons only known to himself , employed the appalling Robson and gave him as much money as he wanted

i belive this squad and the management team are the best set up we have had in years and if we had gone straight back up in chedgate season , we probably would have struggled and been back down here not long after

I only can see a positive future for us at the moment ( providing CW and co stay and the board dont massively p him off ), steadily becoming a force in the championship and beyond

part of me wants to say we will storm up the champ next season and challenge for play offs but trying to stay sensible!
but with the current set up, you can clearly see why some think this is a strong possibility !

Let's not forget that the majority of that team got 90 points in League One following relegation, so they weren't that bad.

Individually there are players in that team that would improve us such as Maguire, Lowton, Quinn, Barkley and Evans.

Ross Barkley?

Very True, just think we still had allot of issues and IMHO didnt have the set up we have now but we will never know how Wilson may have got on -although all those players were part of the team that had got relegated the season before and gone down with such a wimper

however we have a manager who has never managed at Champ level and some players who havent played at that level , so who knows what will happen

just think personally as a blade i have not felt this optimistic about a blades team for a long long time and dare i say it , but we seem to have got a manager who may has finally rid us of the 'bottlers ' tag !!

heres Hoping !!

Lowton for Freeman in his current form?
Bartley for Wright. Bash or JOC?

Quinn had a great season in 2011/12 but played centre/left so you would have to drop Duffy or play 4-4-2 and stop Lafferty bombing on.

Evans had a great season too but after 3 crap years. No way would the current Ched improve us.

I meant not just for starting XI but for the bench as well.

Quinn would be debatable with our current team but has had a better career overall than our current midfield.

Ched now, no chance, but Ched then would be a good addition to this squad.

Bartley has been a first team regular for a Championship play off team and Lowton for a Premier League team. Take off the Blades tinted glasses ffs!

I'll ignore the abuse.

I rated Bartley when he was here as 'promising' but he was error prone. I concede he'd get a starting berth ahead of our current centre halves, although long term I think JOC is a better defender and Bash a better footballer.

Matt Lowton is a regular for Burnley, but I honestly think Freeman is a better attacker in a 5-3-2. Lowton was no better as a defender, although I haven't seen him much recently and he may have come on a bit.

BTW you mentioned the word 'team' twice in two lines and never referred to 'squad'. My glasses might be rose tinted, but I think yours need a good clean.
