Wilder has far exceeded my expectations, i remember predicting before the season started that we'd finish just outside the Play Offs. I just thought after all the incoming and outgoings that the process for gelling the squad and team, improving the woeful fitness levels from last season and improving the mood would take much longer than just 4 games.
In many ways, the start to the season wasn't that much of a surprise, the manner of it the 4 defeats was alarming though and the Southend result was perhaps a freak one, but it made me think that the initial 2 season project for Wilder to get us out of the division was optimistic.
I don't really need to talk about what came next, but I've got to say that I don't remember such a positive transformation from the absolutely awful scenes we saw last season.
Wilder has not just improved the on-field side of things, Wilson and to an extent, Clough's cup runs did this, but Wilders attitude has brought together the fans, players, Owners.
I'm not sure its a time to start making comparisons to past managers, I think we might be getting beyond this already, but i can't help think that Wilder will be the new benchmark in years to come.
