Don't usually buy the dirty pig rag, but thought seeing as we got promotion it'll be full of Blades stuff, opened the centre page to find a retro special on the Wembley semi-final of '93 with the dirty pigs in full celebration mode.

They really are a disgusting classless bunch at the Star, the sooner they go belly up, the better. I'll not be spending another 75p on that prile of shite.

Buying the Star is like buying an aids contaminated needle.

You don't do it, but if you do and you complain about the aids contaminated needle being contaminated with aids then...

You can't buy an aids contaminated anything...HIV contaminated, however, can be obtained.

Pedant post #3246!

75p fkin hell  I think they were about 30p last time I bought one, why would you buy one now though they just can't help it with the pro pig bias we all know it. The sooner that rag folds the better.

Is it something they've been discussing for a week, or is it pure coincidence that the coverage of the Semi is a whole week later than the anniversary of it actually happening and instead published on the same day they have the opportunity of a promotion special?

Don't know why anyone pays for this anymore, I just look at it online and select the Sheffield United section, tells me everything I need to know without wading through the piggy bull shit.

Yeah but it is not biased at all, we have been told.

Hackblade and Danny04 to remind us in 5...4...3....2....

Danny04 has been busy pedalling a bit of a negative article about our Billy which is sure to wind up the piggies.

On the majority of occasions people bleat on here about media bias from The Star it is generally an overreaction in my opinion. But if the OP is right then that's absolutely inexcusable. If it was the 25th year since it happened I could see them trying to defend it, but that's next year (and even then wouldn't really warrant top billing).

You give me any reasons as to how it could ever be in favour of us over those cunts or even equal for that matter and i'll stand corrected? It's disgraceful and the only way I find out about these pathetic swipes at our club are on here otherwise I'd be nonethewiser. Fucking tossers!

was reading the Metro paper on bus this morning a paragraph each for us and doncaster confirming automatic promotion a paragraph twice as big on pigs beating newcastle

Posted this elsewhere but it's relevant here too, Martin. It wasn't chosen to do it today. It's a section where we look back at big games around the current date, over the years. Pick a bigger game in Sheffield in early April from the past? Spread (not a 'big spread' as there's no such thing) also leads heavily on Alan Kelly's stunning performance.
The Retro section was polished off on Friday, before anyone knew what was gonna happen over the weekend.
In the end, there were seven pages on promotion in today's paper. 21 stories online. 16-page Champions pull out in the pipeline.
Just offering an insight into how it actually works :)
All the best

The clue being current date, that it was not.

Hmmm maybe Cardiff v Blades April 2006.

Cheers for your take on it Danny, I've not read a paper copy of the Star for some time, hence my ignorance on the Retro section... how often is that published these days? I assumed at least weekly, hence my question above about the date. If it's not weekly, then like you say, it's certainly relevant to early April.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more anger from Blades fans aimed at the nationals, as some of the coverage this weekend in those was atrocious (appreciate we aren't currently a big pull).
