I like Hanson for what he offers and tonight, I enjoyed what Clarke did. However, when these two are involved, Billy has to pull out of position to get on the ball and quite often ends up on the left wing. That, in my humble opinion, is why Billy has stopped scoring.

And then some.

Did Sharp not receive the ball in the LB spot last night near the end of the game (just before he was hooked) ? He was definitely behind Lafferty at the time and we were in possession so he wasn't tracking a runner. And plenty of folks don't see this as an issue !!!!

You're right. Since Hanson got in the team we've been on a terrible run.
Lest we forget, the mighty Hanson could not get a regular shirt for mighty Bradford !

We were top when he arrived, we remain top. Primarily because we have a decent defence, first class midfield, and the top scorer (for now ;)) in the country.

We won 2-0 and tactically made the right decisions in the right parts of the game. But you still find reason for there to be "issues". I'll put it in perspective for you. We are getting out of this division after 6 years of fucking shit. Our management team has not only arrested our slide but taken us to a point where we could be promoted with 4 games to spare. This time last season these were pipe dreams and things looked shit. In fact after 4 games of this season things looked shit. The turnaround has been remarkable.

Now I would say that is plenty of reason to shut up moaning and inventing none existing issues and just for one moment clap like a seal, enjoying every moment of the run in. Right now there are no issues. Billy not scoring isn't an issue because others are. That is the great thing about a team.

I don't know if you have ever played a team sport but so long as you win as a team week after week, who gets the goals and how doesn't matter.

I'm staggered that people still have something to complain about. The football is good, generally flowing and we are beating teams who are defending in numbers by being tactically smart.

Go on, someone give me a sound, footballing reason to moan about Sheffield United.

Honestly Clarke did very little when he came on other than get himself on the end of a great ball and credit where credit's due - well done to him for that.

He did more than that, including some stepovers down in the JSS/Kop corner. Leon Clarke, stepovers! Fair made my night that did.

Wilder signed Hanson because he was pissed off with his strikers
We were creating a dozen chances a game at the time and the strikers were not putting games to bed
He brought Hanson in and since then we haven't had that problem

We are top and about to be promoted more than likely as champions if Billy his game for the good of the team then surely as captain he should be happy to do so

Dronnie's right, Sharp and Hanson is not a good partnership and in the long run it'll do Sharp no favours.

But there's no doubt that having Hanson has given us another dimension and helped us get results we might not have otherwise got, in games like Peterborough and Oldham away.

Great post

Dronnies not right in any way whatsoever and neither are you

Disagree with you there. Clarke was on fire as soon as he came on. If there was a bookies near my seat I'd have put money on him getting the vital goal. The defenders just couldn't get near him. Maybe that was due to them watching Hanson and Sharp but it looked like he was definitely on a mission. I don't understand why you think he did very little.

So flags are banned if they don't meet the health and safety regulations but it's alright to have some fucker running round the pitch in a ball of flames?

This club makes me sick, the level of hypocrisy is astounding and while I'm at it, what was Wilder thinking when he belly flopped onto the pitch? What if there was a pile of dogshit there, or broken glass?

Seriously, one or two need to rethink their actions. There were children at the game for goodness sake!

So it's a shit partnership that has got us points we wouldn't have otherwise got? That's what I am reading.

Saw them on Bladesplayer. Not quite Ronaldo but made me smile.

First of all, I was talking about Hanson. And I didn't call the partnership 'shit'.

Arguably more points from the two games I mentioned. Not necessarily overall, although IMO it's not cost us points overall. It's possible for the strikers not to work well as a partnership but the team to gain more points due to the individual strengths of one or both of them, especially in the short term, and especially when the rest of the team is very strong. Consider things like Hanson defending set pieces for example.

You shouldn't just rely on stats to judge though. Do they link up well? Do they benefit each other positionally? Do either offer a threat in behind the defence? Can either make their own chances? For me the answer to all of those is no, and it's frustrating to watch a lot of the time. The prospect of Sharp and Hanson starting together in the Championship is quite scary.

All taken and understood but there are two things that override your detail. We aren't in the Championship and I count points in the bag as the only stat that matters. One of our problems in the past has been buying Championship players who couldn't play in League One. We have League One players taking this division to pieces right now. I'll worry about next season when we get there.

Our starting strikers, Sharp and Hanson, now have 0 goals between them in the last 5 games.

If folks don't see that as a concern / issue, than more fool them. While obviously beneficial, relying on RBs and CBs for the majority of your goals is, quite obviously, a recipe for disaster going forwards.

I can pretty much guarantee the strikers goal drought will be the major discussion point between Wilder and Knill at this time.

There is a link above, where Wilder is going off on one about how unreliable (Sharp aside) his strikers have been in front of goal. Just about managed to stop short of calling them out as goal shy wasters.

Has 1 in 11 Hanson improved this ?

How about the 0 in 10 version ?

Has 0 in 5 Sharp ?

How long till Wilder goes off on one again ?

PS unashamedly nicked from another poster (TylerD I think), the clues in the name fellas. STRIKER !

No never played in a team.
Never kicked a football.
Never obtained any coaching Quals.
Never coached and managed.
Eaten lots of Prawn Sarnies instead.
Maybe I should stick to Tennis ?

Didn't one of those lead to him ending up on his arse in the move leading up to Fleck's goal? Got a few chuckles in the crowd.

We are a Championship club now, I'd be amazed if Wilder hasn't been looking at how he can improve his squad for a number of weeks if not months.

I'll give you that Ricky.

It's given the defenders extra and unnecessary workload every time that clowns feet pillock loses possession in dangerous areas.

Times many this happens. Each and every game.

The mentality of a large section of our support baffles me. I'm not alone, but for sure it's a minority.

Anyone that claps and cheers when clowns feet wins a header that goes STRAIGHT (do not pass go, do not collect £200, fucking STRAIGHT) to an opponents feet defies logic, explanation and, IMHO, a fundamental flaw in basic football understanding / knowledge.

Now.

If one of the clappers / cheerers in this scenario can explain why they do indeed clap and cheer when clowns feet does exactly this, I will willingly, attentively and with an open mind, listen to what is being said.

As the old saying goes, you learn something new every day !!

It also showed a complete lack of regard for the Desso. We didn't purposefully sell Murphy to fund the Desso just so Wilder could tear it up with his awkward belly flopping!
