Warning to goal celebration pitch invaders

Safety of all inside the stadium is the number one concern

But at the same time............Fuckin 'ell

Violent pitch invasions and attacking players or officials or making your way towards the opposing fans should be severely dealt with

But celebrating a goal, especially an absolutely vital goal should be dealt with much more leniently

Getting chucked out is enough IMO

Stewards smiling and ushering somebody back over the barrier into their seat would be even better and create less friction

Everyone staying in the stands whilst the players do a lap and what not, being as loud as possible and giving them what they deserve.

Or

Everyone runs onto the pitch and hugs the players and stuff.

The second will happen.

It gets worse....Reading and MK Dons, supporters reknowned for their trouble causing, were at it following their promotions. Fathers even put their sons on their shoulders and people took selfies. People were hugging strangers?! Sickening scenes and definitely NSFW.

How have you managed to take that top picture when it is clearly taken from 22nd April 2017. Time Traveller?

Then you'd have someone on the pitch every match!

We appear to have attracted a number of fans this season who, for one reason or another, aren't content unless they're celebrating goals on the pitch.

Let this be a cautionary tale...

Obviously, it's completely over the top. But the authorities are perfectly within their rights to issue such punishments and it would be a shame to miss out on the coming season.

Are Coventry fans excempted from this.

Don't understand how anyone who sits on the Kop is able to run onto the pitch, what with their poor knees.

Especially if they don't have the energy having not eaten anything since half-time, or longer if the pies have run out. Could they sue the club if they collide with one of the pillars whilst charging down the kop?

Rules ref there for a reason, and that is for the safety of players, officials and fans of both teams.

If someone breaks the rules, there has to be a punishment to deter people from doing it. It is common knowledge about these consequences, and in many cases signs everywhere to remind folk. So when goals are scored it is understood there may be excitement and over exuberance, but there is still no need to go over barriers and onto the pitch. So just like any other crime...and like it or not, this is a crime on the statute book of the country where those who make such decisions were voted democratically, those found guilty have to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

As for end of season pitch invasions, I would rather the players be able to come out and celebrate in front of all fans. Thousands of people running into the pitch area means that people could get injured in the rush. Furthermore, we have a good number of fuckwits who would run over to away fans and goad them.

I have zero sympathy.

It won't be long before a fan runs on the pitch, falls over (which happens a lot anyway), and injures one of their own players.

At the end of the season, I can understand it, although I'm sure they'd want to present the trophy on the pitch. But not after a goal. It's not that much of a hardship to celebrate in the stand and avoid getting either slung out or arrested.

We do already
Most pitch invasions are celebratory rather than violent

It's just another stick to beat the football supporter with

If you walked on the grass in the park and the sign said "Keep off the grass" you wouldn't get criminalised like a football supporter does

Violent disorder - Throw the book at them

Stupidity due to over the top celebrations - Just chuck them out and have done with it

'cretins' etc seems a tad harsh for fans expressing over elation. However misguided or unwarranted, it's not an act of treachery.

Are fellow Blades at Darlo/Leic cretins too when waxing lyrical about past momentous occasions.

football fans displaying such contempt for other football fans doesn't half show how successful society has been at painting such a malignant picture of football fans in general.

Which also includes encroaching on the pitch even at the final whistle.

reading comments you can tell some are planning on invading end of this season, great hope you all get caught and banned, selfish twats all off you who supports invading. It's a security precaution for both players, staff and fans. It only takes one person in a mob to do something.

Sadly, I think that all the warnings in the world will do no good.
The following things are also banned in football stadiums
a) turning up pissed
b) snorting coke
c) taking in pyros
d) very wittily squirting brown sauce all over the concourse after removing an air-conditioning unit and terrifying concession stand staff.

What worries me more is one of our little scrotes getting on the pitch and when being confronted by an opposition player attacking him. Or even twatting the referee. I can almost smell the points deduction.

did leeds get a points deduction

a sliiiiiight over reaction maybe?

a few people have suggested a fairly apparent dis-proportionality of the penalty to the 'offence', not given a rallying cry to benny hill around the 18 yard box.

It's not necessarily disproportionate though. Any penalty has to be severe enough to act as a deterrent or it's pointless.

Should it be applied to an end of season celebration? Probably not. Should it be applied to anyone who invades the pitch during a game? Yes, including those Cov supporters.

What's more likely to happen is just one, yes one tennis ball will be thrown at a Coventry player in retaliation for what happened at there place and the referee will report us. Points deduction etc. We will make the point that they threw hundreds at there place but the league will rule that any punishment for them wouldn't be fair on there fans. It's just our luck. It's the Blades way
