As most of you know we have adopted the Golden Lion as the main forum pub meet before matches.

This can sometimes get a bit crowded and has long waits at the bar sometimes.

Some good news I've heard this morning is that Lee will be opening a bottle bar outside this season.

Should result in smaller queues.

See you all there!

:D:D:D

I shall be there far more regularly this season thanks to the addition of a season ticket.

Also with me will be the prescence of mini-MAQ who will also be experiencing her first season ticket, and the religion that is post football pub. Would just like to say at this point that when she is there i wont be expecting anyone to be worried about language or toning down there conversations, she will undoubtedly experience worse while at home with her mother and also whilst in the ground.

We always used to go in the Lion before matches but stopped because of the long queues. Could have had three pints waiting to get one!!;)Winter night matches were worst with everybody crowding in to keep warm. We used to end up sat on the pool table!!

Keep us posted if the bottle bar improves things.

Stand outside no matter what the weather! I remember one day last season when it hailed in biblical quantities, yet Linz stood outside wearing only a small hoodie. I was outside of course, as I am big and hard, and you can't smoke inside.

Foxy was inside like a rat up a drainpipe at the first sign of a cloud, the big girl.:D:D:D

Your memory is broken sir :p

I stayed outside throughout

You were in the doorway staying dry as I recall, while your beloved was outside, teeth chattering and as wet as an otter's pocket.

Mind you, there has been a lot of beer since then, and memories fade.

How old is mini MAQ? my little princess also has her first season ticket and will be going to some games. She is five, maybe Foxy and Linz could arrange a creche, or even better get grandad SF to look after them.

Hehehe... we can bring plenty of pennies for Panda Pops so all through the game, all you can hear is "Daddy, I need a wee wee" "Daddy... it's desperate" :D

mini-MAQ is 8, although that 8 is going on 25 at least

As youngest has her first season ticket, we'll not be with designated driver (on afternoon matches anyway), so we'll be on the bus, which means accidentally walking past/into the Lion.

My youngest is 4 going on 96 ..... bless 'er.

we could get some custom jackets made

I was sorely tempted to get Small SV her first season ticket, but I have thought long and hard about the multitude of pitfalls.

I like a beer or two before a match, and a cigarette or ten too. Since I don't smoke in front of my daughter, that will mean either I give up, again, or avoid the pub.
Match days are also one of the few days when I can swear as loud as possible without fear of family rebuke. Spotty stewards don't count. Match days are also one of the times when the only family I want to see are brothers coming back from the bar with a beer for me.
So much as I love my daughter, and have brainwashed her into The Way Of The Righteous as a Blade, it will be a couple of years before she will be coming with me regularly to matches. When she can keep what happens when Daddy goes to the football between us.

how old is she SV?

With you on all of that SV. It's going to some baptism of fire for her ...... pubs and football grounds are the only places where I swear too, but match days were always sort of, "Daddy-time" for sufclucy (middle daughter's not too fussed about football, but I'm working on it!).

It was also where she could be a 'grown-up' too. We were on the South Stand some years ago when we played Man City (won 1-0, Brown scored just before half-time, and there was a load of fighting on the concourse) she joined in with the "We'll never be mastered" chant, then realised what she'd sung in the next line, when I gave her the "Daddy look".

I said we wouldn't tell Mum ;)

I'll save the Arsenal story for another time ...... :D

Still be Sportsman for me... when I'm not working anyway!

It's my pre-match ritual... it can't be changed!

Think I might make some appearances at the lion this year, went to the earl of arundel and shakespeare last year, so might have a change
