Is it only me that remembers the original lyric of "Like a night out on West Street"? I'm sure it was sung for at least a year before it changed to "Like a night out in Sheffield".

Or am I going mad? Nobody else seems to remember it.

Soon to be "a good pinch of coke" thanks to the next generation of wankers.

You fill up mi senses,
Like nicking a pitch cover,
Like letting a flare off,
And a Firecracker too,
Like a thick line of Class A,
Washed down with a Weak Lager,
I feel hard in a group,
And I swear snide designer clobber.....
Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah......OOOOOhhhhh are Sheffield United again?

Sorry TomHef.....In regards to your original post, I have no knowledge of it mate. Didn't mean to derail the post.

There definitely used to be two distinct lines of 'Na na na' whereas it's now a radio edit that fades out very quickly. Actually I'd better not talk about lines on this thread...

I wonder if John Denver was ever made aware of us singing a version of his song?

I do reckon if he was still alive today,we would have invited him to the Lane to perform his song at half time, anytime he was near or playing in Sheffield

First time I heard it, after the Atkins Rotherham game, on a bus back to town, they were singing 'night out in Woodhouse'. I assumed at the time they were from Woodhouse. Maybe there were a few different versions going around.

First time I heard the proper version with plenty singing it was Notts County away in 84/85.

I still maintain that we rush the last part way too much.

A clear and slow Nah- nah- nah- nah- nah-Ooh!!
Would sound so much more intimidating

Couldn't agree more. That was the best bit but the modern can't be arsed generation just, well, can't be arsed.

Now when I were a lad...........

Think I've got a stalker.......:):)

Anyone remember the version with the lines:

He works down at Asda behind the fish counter
He fills up the freezers with frozen fish fingers

Only heard it ones away at Coventry sometime in the early 80s.

I'm guessing whoever came up with that one was in an advanced state of refreshment... or actually working at Asda behind the fish counter
