Just want to say I think weve got something special here with this lad
Not often I say that
Only times before ive singled people out for special praise were gary cahill , kyle walker and oasis

Chris Wilder is the real deal as far as I'm concerned. Taking us up this season in the style in which we are playing shows his man management footballing ethos.

Well 2 out of 3 int bad

Brought this thread back admittedly as it more a message to blades in 9 months time, that i couldnt help but think at the final whistle during the fantastic scenes. Its espically prominent after what happened to Claudio Ranieri at Leicester this season. Where you be forgiven for thinking that theyve forgotten the man that gave them the greatest season of their life

Can we all just remember this next season all the love, songs, the pictures of wilder as jesus & if things get tough which they likely will, look at wigan (on 3rd manager) & burton (21st) this season. Lets remember to be patient & not turn on him if we are 17th at christmas. As like Grigg at wigan. Sharp goals have easied up.
He needs to go
he's out of his depth
no plan B
defensively clueless

As you dont become a bad manager overnight

Easy to say but when the crowd starts baying it's hard for some to not jog along with them.

Also depends on how things go. If he is clearly making basic errors and loses the dressing room then he is as open to criticism as anyone. You just don't see that happening though do you?

Love this bloke (tho not in a gay way) when he got appointed my son pulled his nose up but I told him it was the best that Mc C had done in years.
Mark my words this bloke is going to be a legend with blades fans for years to come.

True but if i was to say around this time in 2016 when outplayed man city at ehithad that by january. Ranieri would be sacked as they gone from world beaters to useless after the players downed tools trying to get him the sack. You wouldve laughed because like we all thought not a chance because if 1 team would give a manager a full season its Leicester

Debate in boozer after game... if we're bottom in championship at Christmas would he get sack? Thoughts....

Not meaning to be negative but just wondered what you lot think

Quick mention again. - give him , Knill and Mitchell long term contracts.

All eggs in one basket and go with them come what may.

Even if we struggle next season the board and fans have to realise that this club needs continuity more than anything else. We've got a big opportunity to start doing all the right things for the future and only with stability can a manager start investing in the future rather than just next week's result.

Hypothetical I know, and I hate to say this, but probably yes. Football is a results business.

A lot can change in 9 months. Expectations are always high here. I don't think anyone is realistically expecting playoffs, or even competing with the big spenders (unless our backers dip into their retirement funds).

TBH, a lot depends on our reactions as a fan base. If we're bottom at Christmas its either going to be because we've not invested sufficiently or have spent a small fortune and underperformed. Either way, the board will feel the pressure and look to blame the manager.

Who'd want to be a manager? (or, for that matter, a chairman).

In debates about manager longetivity I like to bring up (trigger warning for Pinchy) Bassett.

He was appointed halfway through a relegation season and couldn't stop the rot and then gave us two consecutive promotions.

Then we didn't get a win in the top flight until Christmas. We made it to safety and then thrived until 1993-94 where we were relegated in typical Blades fashion.

We kept him around for a year longer but as the results dried up he had to go, a show of the changed climate in football.

Today he would have been sacked either after the first relegation or during the winless run. Thus depriving us of many of the memries we got under him and taking a big gamble on our future by appointing someone else.

Just sacking managers after getting crap results or even relegated is not the answer IMO.

First of all a few hypothetical assumptions on this thread need to be addressed
First of all if we are bottom at Xmas and wilder is indeed sacked because the fans are baying for his blood then he must have been doing something pretty bad as i can't remember the last time a manager was sacked after blades fans called for it

Secondly if he is doing badly at a new level for him as a manager then surely this season's success would buy him some leeway with the club ,no other manager in recent times has had that to fall back on

Thirdly it will become fashionable to call him by a disrespectful comical name and half the fan base will hate him no matter if he is the most successful manager ever or the worst

Lastly we wont be bottom by Xmas, the guy has got the whole club ,fans ,chairman and even internet shitslingers behind him so the only way is up my friends

We won't be bottom at Christmas because we have a very good manager(who I wasn't convinced about when he was appointed!!- I am now!!).... the last good manager we had was Warnock....

Chris Wilder has a plan A B and C.. unlike some of our more recent managers.

He'll be backed by the board because they'll want us to stay in the championship as much as the fans and they trust him not to waste the money he's given.

We won't get relegated next season!!

Unless we get relegated the "blades way"

Hopefully in a year or so's time this thread won't be brought back up and you don't look back in anger as i'd say definitely maybe CW has a masterplan! :)

Said yesterday "could watch this stuff all day long, we'll be passing through the likes of Ipswich next season"

Totally agree with you. Clearing out and then building his own team and getting us on the verge of getting out of this league is a magnificent achievement. His stock is so high this management group must be in high demand. That might be the Boards biggest challenge

You have only to read all the threads , posts and realise , we couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery . We get too emotional after a result has gone the wrong way . Let's hope the board will hold there nerve , as U.S. Fans IMO can't .

We do not want a Leicester , Arsenal , Derby were players seem to pull the strings .

Wilder with full backing from fans , board , back room staff , players could take us into the premiership .

That's when Wilder has to worry .

Seems i wasnt the only one with the thought. & with Ranieri & even Caldwell won the title with wigan after poor start like us was a shootout defeat from a certain JPT Trophy think its an almost certain yes, Unfortunately. As us football fans have short memories
