We have a number of players whose contracts run out in summer, and no doubt quite a few more who would like a better deal. Chris Wilder isn't entertaining any players contract talks until the end of the season. I think that's fair enough tbh. Let's know for sure what division we will be in and then discuss new contracts accordingly.
Also I think there are going to be some disappointed players as well - so that's another good reason not to start discussing contracts now because clearly there will be a number of players, currently in and around the first team squad, who won't be getting a new contract. So we don't want them moping around now and creating a bit of an atmosphere.
Who will those players be that we let go? Here's my guess...
Long
Hussey
Wilson
Scougall
Done
Clarke
McNulty
Reed
Ebanks-Landell
(I know Ebanks-Landell isn't our player - but I'm saying I don't think we'll make the move permanent).
I wouldn't lose any sleep over any of the above leaving tbh. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's necessary, in order to strengthen the squad overall and allow some room for growth of our younger talent.
