It's nearly the end of the season now so time to start thinking about who deserves player of the season. A lot of contenders this year and it'll probably end up going to Billy Sharp but personally, although it's very difficult to choose, I think I'd give it to Kieron Freeman.

Sharp deserves it for 25 + goals and Freeman deserves an honourable mention.

Fleck is our best footballer though, the one player in the division I am confident could play in The Premier League now.

Whilst that is a good call, the thing about this team, is that is a team, and you can make a case for many other players. This is a good sign. O'Connel/Wright/Basham for me. Never expected what we got from them and before anyone says "Coutts" I could tell he was a player when he could be arsed under Madkins, but those three, I never expected them to be as good. (Then again it helps with a good keeper and a midfield that isn't fucking about)!

He might not have scored many goals but the player who I've particularly appreciated watching this season is Lavery. Like Done, but with talent. The way he skinned that Swindon defender for our second goal last night sums up in a microcosm how he seems to have played most times i've seen him this season. Obviously he wouldn't get PotS, but for me deserves a Special Mention (whilst Billy gets my vote for first prize)

I can see Lavery scoring more in the Championship than Billy. In twelve months time I would not be surprised is he was our first choice striker.

It's easier to say qho you wouldn't vote for. Those people are only because they haven't had a full season. What a way to discount them!!!

Can't choose 1, they all deserve credit for the job they've done this season, I'm going to vote Chris Wilder as Blade of the season though, what magic he's brought back to the lane!!!!!

I don't know how you set these voting things up but seeing as it would be silly not to vote for Billy (see what you made me do there), can we not set up a vote for the best player except Billy?

My vote in this case would be Basham.

Theres so many to choose from Simon Moore, Jake Wright, Keiron Freeman, Paul Coutts, John Fleck, Mark Duffy & Billy Sharp as so many have been intergral to getting us 3 pts at some point

But i went for Dean Hammond for all his unseen work :D

Seriously i went Jake Wright. He wont win because Billy Sharp deservingly will. But thats the obvious choice. But hope Jake Wright organisation & leadership he brings to the team in the sort of Morgan role thag we've been crying out for since Morgan retired is just as vital as billys gials have been this season

He's definitely one of my favourite players. Good ability, hardworking and a good character. Someone who you feel could develop into a very good player. Always looks likely to make things happen in a way barely anyone else in our team does, which makes him stand out a lot. When he's got the ball around the box something generally happens.

He's had a good season but has just been unlucky with the playing time he's had. If you look at the games he's played in away from home, we've scored at least 3 goals in all of them apart from Bristol Rovers. It's no coincidence. In those games he had a massive impact.

I'd really like him to have a good end to the season now. It would be fitting.

For me, it has to be Billy. He brings so much to the club in so many ways, both on and off the field.

The runner-up position has many candidates. An argument could be put forward for many players for many genuine reasons.

The run for the second goal was a hallmark of pace and quality. He was alert for the first too. An example that a work ethic has to be combined with intelligence and talent. Done wouldn't have scored that goal.

I agree he's been great, but I can't get on board with our player of the year being someone that finishes the season starting less than two-thirds of the games. Sharp for me.

I'll be honest, I really can't make my mind up this season. The last few campaigns it's been a lot easier just choosing who'd been the least shittest player.

Which actually worries me. We all know why that is....

The obvious choice is Sharp for several reasons, including guts, commitment, leadership, consistency, bond and connection with the fans, how he supports his team mates, seems to take as much pleasure in the team's goals not just his own ( no Geoff Boycott here).

I could have easily have gone for Fleck

I've gone for Freeman partly because he goes a bit unsung. I think he's brave, fully committed, scores and creates goals and seems to love playing. I think he was on loan at Pompey last season, may be wrong and he's picked himself up and put in a shift this season

Seems a bit inappropriate just to pick out one player actually.

If push comes to shove it's Freeman

Has to be Billy for me. Comfortably the division's top scorer. Honourable mentions to Fleck and Freeman who have to be in with a very good chance of being named in the team of the year.

I can't really pick a stand out player this season they have all contributed at some point so if pushed you have to go for the team captain. Oh and another reason is that he will hit 30 goals this season.

Sharp's goals are spearheading the success, but I feel this is one of those teams where in 20 years time everyone will still be able to roll the starting 11 off their tongue at the drop of a hat. It's a testament to Wilder that he's put such a strong side together in such a short space of time that complements each other to the point there isn't a noticeable weak link.
