Interesting that Fleck currently has 43 to Coutts 4, taking into account previous seasons me thinks. Would either be as good without the other this season?

A really tough call this one.

I voted Billy, thinking Fleck or Freeman would win it so I'm pleasantly surprised so many recognise Billy's contribution.

At a push, JOC, Wright, Bash and Duffy are contenders too, which is a wonderful position to be in, especially after the deabacle that was last season.

I love Sharpy and 47 league goals in less than 2 seasons is absolutely phenomenal but it has to be Flecky for me. He's at the heart of so much we do. He's got a brilliant first touch, links up so well with Coutts and isn't afraid to take a player on. His biggest attribute for me though (which doesn't get mentioned enough in my opinion) is just how many times he breaks up opposition attacks. He's absolutely brilliant at intercepting balls or putting a last ditch tackle in to stop an opposition break-away.

Having said all that, there's nearly 20% of the season still to go so I think we're being a bit premature picking POTS already.

For me Sharp, his tally this season is awesome and just gone about business in a great manner and looks awesome as Captain, it really has been a team in every sense of the word, Freeman, Coutts, Fleck, Lavery, Moore and the rest all played there parts and still work to do for the remaining games, but still Sharp!

Fleck, Coutts, and Freeman are all close for me. Fleck is the best midfielder I've seen at the Lane since McDonald and is a much more rounded player as well. I'd given up on the idea you could find a complete midfielder in League One until Fleck arrived.

Coutts is a rock, more in the McDonald role. Less creative, but he retains and recycles possession so well and everything good about us build from him and Fleck.

Freeman has had a phenomenal season. His goals have been of huge importance and we are so strong attacking down his side of the pitch. Shame about his crossing at times.

Other players that I could mention (Duffy is next in line), but those ones stand out the most to me. You only have to look at goals like the Freeman one the other day and similar to see how well the whole team contributes to possession football. We score good team goals that only come from a good working unit comprised of talented individuals.

In spite of all of that, I can't get past a captain who's pushing 30 goals. It's almost too simplistic to reduce the game to your main striker, but Sharp hit twenty in a much poorer team last season. That's because he's the best striker in this division. He represents everything good about our club, and based off some of the prominent community work he's done this season, and some I've heard about through an acquaintance, he is an absolute class off the pitch as well.

For me, it has to be Billy. He brings so much to the club in so many ways, both on and off the field.

The runner-up position has many candidates. An argument could be put forward for many players for many genuine reasons.

For me it has to be Sharp, for his goals and being the captain. However, most improved and surprising player of the year is Freeman. Coutts has been great too but you could always tell he had ability on the ball.
