A few years ago (2008/09?) we broke the record for the highest number of goalscorers in a given season. I know we wouldn't necessarily be close to that this season due to not using so many this time round, however I started thinking about how the goals have been shared around the team this season.

Of our starting XI last night, only O'Shea hadn't scored a goal which he duly corrected by the end of the match. Additionally, 5 of the players on our bench have scored this season. That means 15 of the 18 in our matchday squad have scored. Not bad going and shows that we do spread things around. I guess it would be good to see more breaking double figures, only Billy has so far with Freeman currently on 9. Get it sorted Wilder!!!

Including Mr OG we have 18 league scorers so far this season, as follows. I don't know what the record number of scorers is but if we tie up promotion early and play a few fringe players in the run in then maybe we could threaten it.

SHARP 26
FREEMAN 8
DUFFY 6
EBANKS-LANDELL 5
SCOUGALL 4
LAVERY 4
COUTTS 2
O'CONNELL 2
CHAPMAN 1
BASHAM 2
CLARKE 1
DONE 2
FLECK 2
LAFFERTY 2
OG 1
HANSON 1
O'SHEA 1
WILSON 1

Not sure why but I thought Wright had scored, which would have been very impressive as only Moore out of the normal match day team not to score, but him and Wright need to pull there bloody fingers out ;)

Wright should have been on the score sheet as he has missed 2 sitters recently - think one was against Bolton early on but as long as he keeps them out I dont care

Biggest disappointment = Clarke!!

Makes you wonder if we will even make anything back on him or cut the loses and sell him cheap.

I would have thought he would not be in the plans for higher up? but you never know, in Wilder we trust

If he gets back to fitness, then, and only then, I believe he could have a very important role to play at the lane!!......... He could carry extra pies to the back of the KOP so that someone other than the first 10 in the queue can sample one!!!!
Job done.

Jake has never scored a goal in the Football League and his last goal for Halifax in the Conference was over the 10 years ago !

They should have let him take the penalty.

with those stats maybe, Coutts was the right choice, would be great if he could get on the score sheet he has done everything else right to say he was bought as 4th choice back up, wonder if Wilson will ever see the light of day again?

Bit disappointed in OG to be honest. Usually can be counted on for a couple more than this surely. Very poor return from one of our former favourites.

Not only OG but it would be interesting to know how many his co-striker, PEN has scored this year. This guy's contribution is usually a good indicator of how your luck's going.

Not yet, not yet. We'd have looked bloody stupid if he'd missed it and then we'd conceded on the break straight away.

However, assuming Billy doesn't need a goal to get to 35 or something, if we get a pen AFTER promotion is secured then let him have a go. He's been immense this season, a goal would cap it off nicely for him :)

Always said that Fleck would be a waste of a shirt
