I agree with everything you say dingledog but of our ten remaining games we have to play the bottom five teams in the league, three games against fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth and the other two against top six teams but both are at home.
I'm just starting to believe, but not too much just yet.
I'm starting to think about the possibility of believing that we might get promoted, but don't want to get carried away.

When we eventually get promoted I hope you're all ready for the daily "told you so" thread. He"ll claim to be the only one who thought we'd get promoted.
thats you assuming Im the only one believing it
which is way off the mark
I dont do told you so for things that are obvious
its like me claiming to be the only one who thinks owls fans are deluded

Sky bet odds: Chelsea 1/10, Newcastle 1/12, blades 1/20, Doncaster 1/4.
To win their respective leagues.
I do not fucking care about what bookmakers think. It proves nothing. What were the odds of Celtic losing to Caledonian Thistle? What were the odds of Barcelona overhauling PSG? What were the odds when we blew it when da pigs went up instead of us? Odds Schmods.

Those are all indivdual games.yes we might lose 1 or 2 maybe 3 but we are talking losing 5 or 6 games sgainst poorer teams out of the next 10 when weve had 1 loss in 2017 . That means wed have to play Rotherhams first team in our team for the last 10

Exactly. It's not about the club, it's about the fans. And what I do know is that although Blades fans seem to think they are unique in the "bad luck" stakes, we're not. Fans of most clubs have similar tales of how they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We aren't unique in that respect. It does happen, is happening, to all clubs from time to time.

But we have a special ingredient that makes our fans more pessimistic than those of most other clubs - it's called being a "Sheffielder". A city that has bred generations of folks who have had to endure some pretty grim times. This is a city where folks never dare to expect owt - in case it doesn't happen. It's a form of self-protection to think like this - and Sheffielder's have that in abundance. More so than in any other city I know - and although I'm from here I've lived all around the country and overseas - but this natural "pessimism" is something quite unique and special to Sheffield.

Even Sheffield United's own son, Neil Warnock, said the same when he managed here. He made the same reference to Sheffield folk and their "glass half empty" philosophy. We're not going to change generations of that overnight I'm afraid.

The best thing is to let them negative so and so's carry on doubting - because that's the only way they'll ever feel safe and slightly happy. You won't change them - never. So no point in trying.

For others, like myself, it's absolutely nailed on we are getting promoted this season, in auto. The chances are that we will be going up as Champions. And in the next few weeks automatic promotion will be a certainty. I'm relaxing and enjoying every moment of it. We've waited a long time for this and it's here.

But it's still a long way off in the minds of some eh? Incredible!

Good post Cerberus!
Just out of interest, and in defense of the "glass half empty brigade", does our inability to celebrate success that we haven't achieved yet affect the players performance in any way?
Does it stop us from celebrating wins (and goals) every bit as much as any one else?
Will we still be jumping up and down like loons IF and when we DO taste success?
(Maybe we'll be happier because our Blades will have exceeded our expectations rather than just met them?;))
We're all Blades and I hope at the end of the season we can all celebrate together :):):):):):):):)

Bet you good money thell be panic threads on saturday ooo hh
fleetwoods only 5 points behind
or boltons only 8
I told you wed blow it threads will abound

On the bright side though, the panic threads are likely to be punctuated properly and therefore may be readable.

They also paid out on Man U winning the league before the season was over (February I think it was) in 2012 only for Man C to come back and win it.

Is this the same people that said scunny would still be there come the end of the season? Have they had the same blip we would need? So it is possible? Is it Friday? Did I finish at 1 and have just got home from the Boozer? Fuck it we are there!!!

Just been checking the PSG boards.

There were no panic threads pre- Wednesday night but lots of hilarious gifs about Marseille.

What about Barca board on 88 mins? Were the toys out of the pram?

Did Barca to Long post

"Hang on what about Sheffield United in 1994 - 2-1 up and safe till the dying mins"

I am taking the buddhist view
I seek enlightenment , not as miserable a view as humanly possible

a blind man can see we are going up

if wednesday were in our position put a figure on how many would doubt it ,, bet its a round figure

Twenty minutes to go I was confident we had done it on 8 May 1994 and we all know how that went.

Three goals up in a pen shoot out, it was all over.

Still over 900 minutes to endure, keep yer powder dry.

Stop tempting fate.

It's highly unlikely we will get caught, but if for instance Billy was to pick up a serious injury in the next couple games it would radically change things.

Lets hope non of the fuckers go to Rhyl this weekend.

heres the prem table
1 Chelsea 27 21 3 3 57 20 +37 66
2 Tottenham Hotspur 27 16 8 3 53 20 +33 56
3 Manchester City 26 17 4 5 53 29 +26 55

11 games left . against their peers all prem clubs 10 points clear
perceived wisdom , winning the title , at a canter

heres league one
Team P GD Pts
1 Sheff Utd 36 27 72
2 Fleetwood 35 20 64
3 Scunthorpe 36 21 61

1 game less to play , we have a 1 point ,more advantage 11 points, against our peers , just for automatic
no man utd or man city to play
whats our perceived opinion
whats different for this current excellent team
give an opinion that doesnt start , in the past........
discuss this current teams chances
Anyone looking at it logically thinks we will go up, but it's been a painful few years in this league and some of us just want certainty before we celebrate. Reminds me of div 4 all over again. I don't see any problem in waiting and continuing to support the team even when things aren't ideal because this team is trying so hard

I think that was still the biggest kick in the bollocks the Blades have ever given me. I knew we'd go down in 2007; 94, after beating Newcastle I was sure we'd stay up, like we usually did.

This bears no comparison to then .Its not a penalty shoot out we are doing .just need to take advantage of the best team in the league having 8 games against teams 14th in the league and below. Its more a fair ground duck shoot and weve got a machine gun
