A random query of the type that pops into my head from time to time...

Is it just a happy coincidence that the postcode for Sheffield United Football Club is S2 4SU?
(I.e. Can be read as S2 for Sheffield United)

Or were the club given that postcode deliberately by the Post Office? Or choose it from some options?

In an attempt to answer my own question, I have found out that the post code for:-
Bramall Lane (the street) is S2 4RH
John Street is S2 4QR
Shoreham Street is S2 4FE
Cherry Street is S2 4SU

So is it just that the club's offices are on the Cherry Street (4SU) side of the ground?

Only us, Wednesday, Newcastle, Sunderland and St Johnstone on that list of examples (I guess there will be others).
So Cherry Street must have inherited 4SU from United then.
That was the bit that made me think it might be a coincidence.
