been saying similar for a while. But I've been saying if A N Other Team were in our position and we were in, say, 3rd I'm sure we'd be saying "we're plying for second no one can catch A N Other now.

Appreciate we are all scared from previous events, but we have to start and believe. This season is the one. I'm a little giddy today as last nights 3pt gain over Scunny was another huge step.

Accepted Bolton still have 2 games in hand, but the pressure is on the other teams now. Over to them on Saturday when we now only 2 of the 3 chasing teams can get 3 pts. Draws all round would be nice.

Newcastle are similarly home and hosed according to the 'experts'. As others have said, if it was any other club than us.....

Is your prescription different, BTL?

:)
I am taking the buddhist view
I seek enlightenment , not as miserable a view as humanly possible

a blind man can see we are going up

if wednesday were in our position put a figure on how many would doubt it ,, bet its a round figure

Been thinking this for a few days now. There is no way Chelsea can slip up, so why can I not have the same optimism about Blades?

Be interesting to know how many Chelsea fans are assuming they are winning it at a canter - or whether it's just everyone else. Everyone I speak to who isn't a blade (including Man C, Forest, Derby, Doncaster, Everton, Man U, Leeds, Chesterfield and Grunt fans at work) all say we've pissed it - but most Blades are less bullish.

Every other set of fans in our league think we have won it. The Bolton, Bradford and Millwall fans are only talking about catching Fleetwood. There's only our fans who think there's any danger which is understandable

not bullish , just common sense
we are playing like the best team , we have strength in depth
and play well enough to get the fans roaring at the end of games

we are just doing whats necessary , we still dont claim any degree of massiveness
just doing a job

we are simply being the best professionals in this division , this season

What difference does it make what we spout on an internet forum?
As long as we turn up at games in massive numbers and shout and sing out our support, that's all we need to do.
Each one of us has the right to our own thoughts, hopes and expectations.
I personally shall remain hopeful until promotion is confirmed and then walk around with a smile as wide as Norfolk St until the start of next season ;)

Don't fall into the trap of agreeing with them hby, if we fuck up you'll never hear the end of it. I think we will finish up ten points clear of second but would only say that to fellow Blades.

Absolutely agree BTL. I was just trying to make the point that, like Chelsea, most people are assuming we've done it. But Chelsea fans might just be like us and not counting their chickens - I'm not saying they are of course and someone may well come up with a link to their forum which proves me wrong .My experience is that most fans (excluding those idiots across the city and Man U of course) are less confident about their own clubs and it's not just us - although we may have more than our fair share due to our recent history ;).

pulled from the Shed Chelsea's unofficial supporter forum

"I have to admit as much as I like the praise we are getting in the media, I'm a little uncomfortable with us been labelled title favourites after blitzing Everton. I feel like the media are doing what they always do and get carried away. They even do it when sh*t hits the fan, like when they were saying Conte's job was at risk after losing back to back to Liverpool and Arsenal. Don't get me wrong were playing the best football I've seen since that first half of the season 2014-15 and the fact we only have two competitions to concentrate on is a big advantage but I just don't like when the media get carried away.

How does everyone else feel about this?"

"I'll take a CL spot and the FAC right now."

"At the moment we have very good players, and some great ones playing as a team to their full potential.Conte has the drive and desire to make sure this continues.I wont be thinking about the title for now but i am enjoying watching some marvellous football.....UP THE CHELS!"

"
I am just pointing out statistically how unlikely it is that we will be caught. Once you stop assuming that City will win every game then it becomes a bit clearer. I assume City will drop at least 6 points meaning we will need to drop 16 or whatever the gap is.

Basically we are going to win the league. Just enjoy it"

"
My predictions for the remaining 11 games

Stoke away draw

palace home win

City home draw

Watford home win

Bournemouth away win

United away draw

Southampton home win

everton away draw or defeat

Boro home win

west brom away win

Sunderland home win

I reckon we should get around 24-25 points in our 11 games

with end of season total at a minimal of 90 points"

"Actually, no team with 66 points or more after 27 games has ever been caught. It would be a historical collapse"

"And no English team had won a penalty shootout against a German team.

I'll be happy when its mathematically done"

"In that case I am expecting a historical collapse, anything else is a bonus...... Just the way I deal with it."

they seem to be a mixed bag like us, some saying its done don't worry others expecting the worse.

quite simple - other teams in L1 have been playing for 2nd since October.

What's the difference between this post and a number of other posts you've put up on here recently?

We all get your point now, just because we don't all come on here every half hour and start a new post about how we'll piss it doesn't mean we don't agree. I am a cautious optimist, keep my feelings in check and hope they come in, you are like the loud mouth at the end of the bar telling everyone how good he is/we are.

We are all excited, there is just a lot of gallows humour on here, if you don't understand that then fair enough but we don't need relentless reminders of your point.

Looking at this dispassionately is the key.

The most points per game across the four divisions is Chelsea with 2.44 points per game.

If each of the chasers replicated the form of the best performing team in the country they'd get:

Fleetwood 88
Bolton 89
Scunny 85

We on for 92.

So even with Chelsea's form in our rivals, they wouldn't catch us.

On their current form they'd get the below:

Fleetwood 84
Bolton 81
Scunny 78

To beat Bolton's likely total and that of Scunny to finish top two given our goal difference, we'd need 3 wins from 10 matches with 8/10 teams being bottom half and to better Fleetwood 4 wins from 10.

Can you really see us not winning 3 or 4 of the remaining fixtures?

Its United. We'll find some strange and unique way, or someone else will. Docked points for morons throwing flares (just enough to put us into the playoffs of course)? Trump starting WW3? Putin invading Ukraine?

Sky bet odds: Chelsea 1/10, Newcastle 1/12, blades 1/20, Doncaster 1/4.
To win their respective leagues.

I think most people are now very confident that we’re going up and reasonably confident we will win the league. BUT, the difference is this.

If Bolton and Fleetwood won their games in hand, they would be 6 and 5 points behind respectively so closer than Chelsea’s challengers. Fortunately, that can’t happen as they play each other this week so I think we can all now say that promotion is very nearly assured and that we have a very good chance of winning the league.

I think the attitude changed with the Bolton game. When we beat them, that was it, we were going up. It was the first game I heard the “now you’re gonna believe us” chant and at Rochdale we broke out “that’s why we’re going up” and “we’re going up, you’re not”. There is a definite belief amongst our support now that promotion is all but ours. The only question that remains is whether we will see of any challengers for the title and I think most are fairly confident we will.

games in han , bveen there

however on form and squads can you see bolton mounting a winning run
they are bleating about brigning in mediocre stand ins for what theyve lost

Id say Fleetwood have a slight chance of catching us for top spot , if we collapse and play like last season , but cant see us doing that
its not this team s way

its ok as fans to believe its possible , let the players worry about keeping their feet planted

Its because we got 90 points and didn't get promoted and as its relatively recent it is very raw!!
Indeed.I think we are still the only club to get 90 points in a season and not go up.

Thankfully that will not be the case this season. I think 14 points from 10 games could well be enough.

Equally 17 points from 11 games may well be enough for Chelsea.

You just keep going and make sure the gap doesn't shorten to something uncomfortable. The other clubs have to be 2 points per game plus to have any chance of narrowing the gap providing we don't have a monumental collapse which I can't see under Wilder.

Last night's win was huge.

No I don't think Bolton will be on a great run. They remind me of us in Wilson's 2nd season after selling Blackman (Clough for them). They seem to lack ideas.

Fleetwood could run us close for the title but I think we'll have too much in the tank.

My confidence for some weeks is first of all our league position has been first or second for ages, the other reason is our current form, still first or second, possibly Fleetwood in the last few weeks can challenge us, and finally our main two other rivals over most of the season are struggling, without checking the facts my feeling is boltons recent form is mid table and scunny is relegation.dosnt guarantee top two but I cannont really see us suddenly going the way of those two, think I might go and put my house on it then ;-)

Forget Bolton for automatic. They`ve won just 6 of 15 away games this season, yet 8 of their 12 remaining fixtures are away, including trips to Gillingham, Oxford, Southend, Scunthorpe, and of course Fleetwood on Saturday.
