I have the excuse of age for missing that game but I wish I was born 10 years earlier so I could've been there

I was born less than a month after Leicester in 1990,

Grow a pair you too!

What is with these abysmally pathetic excuses like 'not being born'?

If you were 'real Blades', you'd have found a way.

QPR away when Booker scored to keep us up. April 1991.

I had no-one to go with so had to miss it.

Often reminded of it by a 'friend' who will doubtless copy and paste this post and email it to me...
Glad to help out in your friend's absence Coops , it was a great day , you really should have been there....:)

Being geographically challenged I have obviously missed out on a fair few , but the one that sticks out is the 1-0 win v Arse in the Nade/Jags match.

As you will remember it was a 5pm ko between Christmas and New Year , I think it's the noisiest I've ever heard BL coming through the TV speakers , it sounded like an absolute fucking bear pit.

Charlton FACUP Quater final , nephews Christening , absolutely gutted i missed it

watched it on tv in the pub ,in the S6 area , surrounded by very jelous piglets !
( personally i have no idea why you would want to go to a pub and watch your fierce rivals unless the match mattered to your team but maybe they just wanted to see what a great stadium with a fantastic atmosphere looked like !)

Sure some clever arse will say how'd you know it was a good match if you weren't there.. you know what I mean !!
Just a few recent ones that spring to mind straight away for me are these although I'm sure I'll be reminded of a few more maybe
Villa away in the FA cup the other year
Peterborough and Bradford away this season
Port vale at home this season although I was at my mates wedding at st Mary's church and I kept popping out for a fag to listen to the crowd ! (sure he'll be lurking on this thread somewhere....)

Probably f***ing Leeds at home on 17.08.71. We thrashed them 3 nil and I was in Devon on holiday.
Too young in those days to have much say in when we went on holiday!

Games I wish I had missed - all the play off finals but particularly the Huddersfield defeat. Absolute torture.

I deliberatley chose to give the final versus Huddersfield a miss.
Thought I might be the bad luck omen at big matches and didn't like the idea of losing to a team with all their supporters wearing blue and white stripes sharing the same stretch of M1 motorway with long traffic jams.

It was the old insurance policy thing again.
Even though I wasn't there if we had won the joy of promotion would have overpowered the disappointment of not being there BUT inside I was dreading the thought that we might win at Wembley and me not be there.

At least I know I'm not a bad luck omen and went to the Hull semi final game feeling better.

Fulham away Sept/Oct 1978. Turned out to be Woody's last game for us. Gutted. Car broke down near Nottingham, by time it was fixed it was too late - went to City Ground and they beat the Arse (2-0 or 2-1) with Birtles and Mills making their debuts I believe.

Never missed a game playing racquet sports that's an absolute cert!

Wolves 2 - Blades 2 promotion season with Harry.....broke down in my shove it Chevette on A38

When we lifted the "Warnock" shield in 05/06 was it against palace? I missed that due to working but went down London road before half time into the sheaf. Did we win Leicester 4-0 on the opening day that season or was that the triple assault season? Missed that one too. I've opened a bit of a daft thread in all honesty we've all missed some games but obviously some have been more regrettable than others.

The ones that I most regret missing are:

- The 5-1 win against Swansea at home in 1988/89. Mum made me go on a pre-booked school trip.
- Leicester away in 1990. Dad couldn't take me, and I was just too young to go on my own.
- The 2-2 draw away to Ipswich in 1997, play-off second leg. I'd gone to university and didn't have a season ticket hat year.

Games that we failed to get tickets for, but turned out glad to have missed are:

- The 0-4 defeat to Leeds in 1989/1990.
- The 1-3 defeat to the Gruntbastards in 1994.

Too right...my son went to the 2-2- promotion game (Stan and Agana goals) at Wolves 2 months before he was born...we were sat in the stand to the right of our fans. Now that's commitment :-)

More of a "I was not there but everyone else appears to have been" match.
Adrian Heath's last match (?) before the sack. The Tuesday night one versus Port Vale and then Warnock's first home game versus Portsmouth...... the first born arriving the day before this match was the reason for both no shows.

Three spring to mind for me in the last few years:

I had a choice between going to QPR away in the FA Cup or Spurs away in the League Cup. Chose to see McEveley "hand" the game to Spurs instead of a 3-0 away battering. Got stuck in traffic, took about 4 and a half hours to get there, lost to a bleedin' penalty and was roadworks all the way up the M1 on the way back. Having said that, it was a good atmosphere and I was on TalkSport later that night speaking drivel about us ripping them a new one at the Lane.

I was thinking of a last minute one man venture to Villa away on that day in the FA Cup, and thought, nah not worth all that money to see us get battered by a lower league Prem team. How wrong I was. Had to settle for running around the kitchen listening to radio.

Latest one was the Notlobs last weekend as I was taking the better half on a weekend away we booked months ago. :(

Feel I've been lucky in some that I've missed though, such as the Huddersfield penalty debacle. Thank god for maths exams...

Darlo away in '82 and still gutted about it 35 years later! I was 12/13 that year, dad took me to a few away games that season but we missed the best one of the lot, and we also missed Peterborough away. Dad lived at Darnall at the time and we ended up playing tennis at High Hazels park that afternoon. When we got there he'd said he'd seen loads of coaches bound for Darlington, loads of fans in fancy dress and was going to phone me to get off to Feethams but didn't bother because he didn't think I was interested. Chffing eck dad I only lived and breathed United, course I'd have wanted to go to Darlington!

The 3-1 win at shitsville ...

Got tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Manchester Academy.

Got to the gig to find out the fuckers had cancelled it to do top of the pops instead which they ended up not appearing on anyway because TOTP wouldn't let them play live!!

R8 way to repay your fans!!! Wankers...

Unless they used it as a shit excuse so Flea could go to the match!!

Leicester away....no date needed, you all know the one.

This one.....only this one.
Didn't really do away games in those days but on that day I went to Wembley to watch Bridlington Town In an FA Vase final.
Remember passing some Blades fans on the way back on our bus and waving triumphantly. Absolutely gutted I never got to go to that game.

Not so much the best match but most memorable, I had a season ticket while at university but woke up one Saturday morning with a massive hangover and decided I couldn't be bothered to make the trip from Nottingham so went back to bed. Missed the Battle of Bramall Lane and Santos, Suffo et al.
