Just to say that the Stoke U23 v Reading U23 game this afternoon went our way. Reading won 4-1. That means SUFC finish second behind Reading & qualify for the last 16 of The Premier League Cup.

In the hat with Newcastle, Sunderland, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Hull, Norwich, Brighton, West Ham, Fulham, Liverpool, Huddersfield & Reading.
Plus one from Middlesbrough & Charlton
Plus one from Man City & Colchester
Plus one from Southampton, Swansea, Bristol

Lots of that info culled from

That's great news and very well deserved.
Would be nice to go all out and try and upset some more big boys.

Great news, especialy after losing at Fleetwood. U23s are at the lane on monday by the way. It's usually free for season ticket holders and £3 adults, £1 concessions for non ST holders

Mon Mar 6 7.00pm Bolton Wanderers PDL Bramall Lane

Great news. Now for some fine knock out matches and a reward for some great games in their section

Do you know the date of the tie Phil? If it's away is it likely to be played at the clubs stadium or not?

No. Sorry. I doubt there are any dates as yet. Group A doesn't finish until 9 March & Group F not until 12 March.
I know the knock out phase is one leg - done & dusted on the night.
Maybe it'll be a free draw. Maybe it'll be regionalised. Maybe it'll be Top of Group teams seeded into Home matches. Maybe.
And, without the draw & dates, no idea where games will be played. If it's Liverpool away, in a week when Liverpool 1st XI are playing at Anfield, the U23s can't be there as well. You know the drill. Many teams at our level or above use at least three grounds - the main stadium, the Academy & a local non-league club they have an understanding with. It'll all become clearer in due course.
What I do know is that this will only ADD to the U23 fixture pile up that others have mentioned on other threads. We already have two Monday/Thursday weeks ahead & even one Monday/Wednesday.
I treat U23 games as a movable feast. Venues & kick off times are often changed very near the game. We'd got all set up for Reading away (at Wycombe) as being a 7pm kick off - booked trains & hotels, the lot. It was switched to 3pm a couple of days before.
Watford away earlier in the season - we got there to be told it was behind Closed Doors.

Heard that young Callum Semple had his ACL Operation yesterday evening and already back at the club in Physio !!
Good luck to the lad .....

A tough year ahead.
Good luck to the lad. I will miss watching him. Any idea how long he will be in recovery before he can play?
