It would have been goal of the century if his Maradonna type run had ended in a goal!

Hopefully a player that can do the business in the Championship. Based on today, Duffy needs to be replaced.

Don't know what is up with Duff lately, though he did improve second half. Maybe needs a spell on the bench, confident he'll rediscover his form.

Not seen a player entertain and get everyone on their feet like that in a while. Could be a fantastic signing for years to come if he can keep that up.

He's called Carruthers - he was always going to be quality.

He gave us a real boost today.

Top signing.

Feb worked out oreyt in't end din't it ;)

UTB!

Lifted the crowd and looked a real threat everytime he picked the ball up, great substitution from Wilder, when i saw the sub about to be made i expected Jay O, what i didn't expect was Sammy turning up and getting us all excited, to the point when he did that run i was close to a sex wee! I know it couldn't have got worse after Adkins but who in a sane mind predicted this? Certainly not me!

Love the fact he dived as well, piss them nonces from Bolton off that bit more!

I agree with most posts on here that Carruthers was exceptional today and allowed United to go up another gear. He seemed to be more direct and effective than Duffy was today. We shouldn't criticise Duffy for that though, he ran his legs off and took some physical attention from Bolton before coming off. Duffy has also had a long run of hard working matches which looks to have taken it's toll on him. Perhaps he just need resting a little, give Carruthers more game time. Once rested, to have both players playing at full strength for us, perhaps 45 minutes each, would be torture for the opposition.

Would quite like us to let him loose at Rochdale next week.

I thought I'd gone back in time, and was watching that Tony Field goal all over again for minute...fantastic run and when you can bring quality like that off the bench,wow...He got us all on our feet a few times and won the Penalty...just what we needed in that he went past and beyond players and also linked up with a few nice passes...quality.

Superb cameo.

However, each time I've seen him he appears to have no positional discipline and doesn't track back. So we need to be really careful where we play him, who he plays next to and which midfield opposition he appears against.

He was very average at Peterborough BUT if CW can sort we've got a hell of a player to call on.

Didn't go today but just amazed that we can't praise one player without drawing comparisons and criticising another!

Duffy has been our KEY attacking outlet (that means the main person to unlock defences btw) all season without any doubt whatsoever. If he's had an off day and Carruthers did well when he came on then fine.

The positive side of that is, based on his appearance today, it's one hell of a luxury to be talking about whether Carruthers should be on the bench or not. Bolton did a number on Duffy in the first half and kept him quiet, he then had a decent spell but was the natural choice to be replaced. Samir then ran rings around them.

The difference in squads as a whole is that Bolton are moaning about having a couple of key players missing, we're looking at our bench and wondering how some of them aren't playing. EEL, Lavery, Carruthers, possibly even Done too wouldn't be starting from the bench elsewhere.

Duffy's been brilliant for us and his shirt still isn't safe.

Duffy had an off (ish) day.

But let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. Duffy has been a key and integral part of our rise to the top of the league.

Samir V impressive when he came on and, importantly, slotted in as though he had played for us since August.

Very positive after today. In all honesty we are the best side in the division and it's not even close for 2nd best. Streets ahead :)

Agreed mate.

Duffy wasn't at his best today, but he's been an integral part of this team's success and our outstanding midfield. No way (IMO) would Wilder consider replacing him at this stage of the season, although Samir could figure in most games to share the load with all three CM and keep them fresh. I'm still not even sure what his best position is yet, but the kid's definitely got class.

I'm really surprised though that some are so quick to write Duffy off good as Caruthers looked for those 30 odd minutes today.

That's the sign of a quality team courtesy of one Chris Wilder.

Only issue Duffy's facing is that he's the wrong side of thirty and he looks like he's tiring a bit recently. Carruthers will get a chance and it's a case of whether he can do what the back three keep doing and pushing the other out of the side for a while. He's undoubted quality at this level and if he loses his shirt it'll only be to something special.

Right signing at the right time, the sort that will get us over the line.

He could easily do a decent job in championship. Fleck coutts Samir Duffy will give most championship sides the run around

Looked well. Should defiantly replace Duffy who has been poor recently

We are top of the league for a few reasons, mainl our fuckin brilliant midfield three, Samir was great when he came on, I called Duffy off Carruthers on a few minutes before, however as good as Samir was, Duffy has been an integral part of our success this season, can Duffy hack it next season in the Championship? Of course he can, he's a top footbalker, he doesn't need to run around as much, his skill is what shines through, before the game, like last week it wasn't about our first eleven, it was our bench, as everyone knows its a squad game, ours is light years aheard of everbody else's, I have every reason to be excied about next season.

Duffy tries to do much. Needs to learn to pass the ball quickier
