Pukka pies are second to none you will find in any football ground.
Thank fook we don't have to put up wi them shite Peters pies any more. *shudders!

I can't believe we're on page 4 and not one comment about being in the wrong section.

This board is falling apart.

The pasties at Bristol Rovers were absolutely excellent by the way. So good in fact that I went back for a second one.

Nothing to do with having been drinking from 4pm, honest.

Wrong section ?? Pies are integral to following the Blades for some, I'll have you know. Definitely General Blades Chat in this house.

The only pie that I have enjoyed at BDTBL was the MK1 Balti pie from years ago. The best pie I have ever had at a football match was at Nottingham Forest, bar none. The fact that we scored 5 against them that day might have enhanced the flavour.

IMG_0089.JPG As my Grimsby-supporting mate Jim wisely pointed out: "You'd think the football authorities and gambling commission might have more pressing things to worry about at the moment than a fat bastard eating a pie".

Good work Jimbob. Up the Haddock.

IMG_0089.JPG Did I just hear on the radio that it's National Pie Week ? Where's the civic bunting and the parade of pies ?

Burp :)

Many years ago the hot pies had ice in them, and, I ate them no problem, mind you a cockroach once ran out of a plate of chicken and chips I was eating in Paris and I carried on eating, couldn't think of a reason not to. I never realised what a beast I was until the civilising influence of my wife  opened my heart and eyes.

My mission is to blog about pies at every Football Club in the UK, and would be grateful for feedback on the pies on offer at Sheffield United to use in future posts.

By the, not unreasonably late, time I got into the ground yesterday they only had steak and kidney pies left. So I had a sausage roll, and it was not as good as Greggs.

Which got me thinking, I wonder why Greggs don't get into stadium catering.

I think it may have been the wonderful beer at a Frankie and Benny's that may have led to this train of thought, but thankfully the football shook me out of such contemplation.

I don't think I've bought a pie at Bramall Lane for getting on for 10 years, but when I did I swear blind they'd been to Morrisons and jusy bought a load of theirs and quadrupled the price.

It was supposedly a meat and potato pie, but if it it was called a "granule of mince, mashed potato and soggy shortcrust" pie, it'd have been more accurate.

tl;dr: used to be shit, apparently still shit.

Only once have I enjoyed a pie at a football ground. That was at Mansfield in about 1982. It was a night match in horizontal sleet and I bought a half-time pie. Didn`t eat it. Got it just to warm my hands up. Coldest I`ve ever been at a game. Bob Booker played a stormer.

It could be a shorter project than you anticipated as the pies at Sheff Utd are Pukka pies and lots of club have the same brand.

I think they're ok tbh but it's a pity we don't support some local trader instead of a big national brand.

Chesterfield FC pies are by a local bakers called Jacksons. They are so much better than the mass produced stuff like Pukka.

I liked the pies at Shrewsbury FC too. First time I've seen cottage pie offered at a football ground.

Generally speaking the quality of pies and other food at football grounds is poor. I think they think we are all peasants and live on beer, crisps and Park Drives.

Even at Wembley on my first visit to the new stadium (Sheff U v Burnley a few years ago) I couldn't get any decent food! Got in early thinking I was going to treat the wife and kids to a slap up meal in their restaurant, with champagne, before the game. Restaurant not open! Match not deemed a high enough category apparently (even though there were over 70,000 fans there).

We had 4x 12 inch hot dogs instead!

£90 a ticket - 4 foot of sausage - and we lost!
