Well, the word i've heard now from multiple sources (over the last 3 days) is that the following deal is under discussion with Wigan....

IN
David Cotterill
Michael Brown

OUT
Michael Tonge
+
some money

I dont know if i'd want to see Browny make a return. He's the wrong side of 30 for me & personally id like to see Blackwell looking towards Youth.

Personally think it's a bad deal for us, as much as i want cotterill to sign, getting rid of tongey ain't the way to be going in my eyes as i think he will have a big role to play next year and is our current best midfielder. To have to pay money on top of losing him would be ridiculous.

great deal i think, cotterill brings much more to the team than tonge does, crossing, running at defenders etc
not sure about browny but i think we could re vitalise his career :)

Wouldn't mind Browny back at all but since Blackwell came in i thought Tonge improved so much. Still depends how much money they want but i can't see much coming of this.

I agree Cotterill brings an awful lot to the team but if we were to lose Tongey we'd have an even bigger problem in centre midfield, as much as i'd like to see browny in a blades shirt again i can see him being a big dissapointment like Hendrie, as everyone will expect so much of him, and tbh i can't see a midfield with Speed and Monty in the middle of it winning the division with the competition we are going to face this year. I'd be quite happy to be proven wrong on this one though:)

i cant believe your putting the LORD in the same breath as hendrie, i think it would be a great move, like everyone cotterill would bring the attacking width that we need what tongey hasn't done for at least 3/4 seasons and his time is up imo, as for the LORD he's been there done that and in a blades shirt so i'd welcome him back

id rather keep tonge than swap him with money.
He finished the season great and he can play centre mid or out wide. Brown is getting on in years and a few sloppy and late challenges have made me wonder about him.

Cotteril i would like but not get rid of tonge and money for.

It's a difficult one because Browny hasn't been his best since leaving us (it happens with most of our players that move on - expcept jags?)

Be interesting to see how he does if it happens because although Tonge improved alot under Blackwell he didn't improve that much.

McCall and BT hadn't already played for us.

That doesn't matter, if someone calls a player past it who they have played for isn't important.
Brown might have had a few bad years but that's not saying he's going to continue like that (on the other hand he might just be past it :D )

well if he scores another goal like that against the pigs i dont care how past it he is!

Id like to remember him for his time at united and not to come back and disappoint.

Same here. He was quality during his time at the Lane, which was the reason for him leaving. If he had continued at the same levels of performance then he would still be wanted by a Premier League club.

but he was used in a holding role for fulham so the likes of bullard could get in more attacking positions, and who's saying that if he did come back he would disappoint.
only time will tell if he becomes a blade once more

The other possibility is that Brown found his level in the Championship. Maybe.

Just to clarify, is it that we get £2m or we pay £2m?

It's about time someone said this.

It's something i've always thought when everyone started raving about him again. I don't deny he's improved but alot of his performances have been average at best.
