I'm coming with 4 footy loving ferrets...

Unfortunately I won't be there, booked a weekend in Germany last June before the fixtures came out, at the time I didn't really mind missing a home game as the last 2 years had meant it was the beer before and after with mates that kept me going, gutted now to be missing it.
I will be watching a game on Sunday in this stadium

So that's what happened to Don Valley Stadium.

Halifax?

I'd imagine the atmosphere will be ever so slightly different to the last time we played Scunthorpe at home.

That really was one of the most depressing home performances of the last 40 years. It wasn't so much that we were crap (we were), but the total lack of effort from half the team. Either Adkins already knew he was off and communicated it to the players, or he proved how shit he was at motivating them for a dead rubber.

Before the game and despite everything, I'd been all for giving him another season. About 30 minutes in and I was "Adkins Out" - he just had to go after that pile of poo.

Couldn't even be bothered to attend that one :(. Had enough by then. although the draw with Barnsley could be seen as a fair result retrospectively i suppose. but if I remember correctly ended our slim chances.
Incidentally I was in the ticket office yesterday and weren't able to get my preferred tickets for Scunny or Bolton.

Back in the days of cash turnstiles, a 25,000 crowd would have been announced as "a truly remarkable 21,312, thanks for your amazing support......ker-ching!"

I have dealings with a Dutch firm (no not those kind of dealings) and one of their guys, a Feyenoord fan, is coming to the match, and he's very kindly got me corporate seats in the Platinum Suite and is bringing with him another client who's a Scunny fan. Apparently I'll be able to count my chickens because one will be on a plate in front of me, and as long as I wear a jacket, a collared shirt (preferably with tie) and no jeans, everything will be fine.

So naturally I'll be on the kop as usual, with the usual suspects, in me jeans and real aled-up to the gills. COYRAWW!!!

No. Hillsborough holds 39,732. The last widely-heralded 'sell out' (well, by Mark the Pitsmoor pig and Radio Sheffield...) was v. Wolves on Jan. 2. 30,549. You do the math...:D

Motor mouth Mark yeah....never yeah....says....anything...yeah... about the actual match,
It's usually about how massive Wendy are ...yeah

I'll bet he never actually goes to games....yeah " you know me ....yeah.... 100,000 at the match.. yeah"

PIG ALERT!

Anyone know Brian the Blade's number and we could send him over to Pitmsoor to sort it:

"Cos when yo've manged a team Seth, er sorry Paul, like what I have, you know a bit about football. For the sole reason that I know a bit about football and I want to talk about Barnlsey's crowds. Becasue when you've managed a team like I have, for the sole reason, you know a bit about football....."

The two were made for each other.

Just picked up my tickets. Even the kop wings are filling up. The lass behind the counter reckons it will be a sell out.

Yeah it was busy when I went to get Rochdale tickets, a bloke in front couldn't get 3 seats together but I'm not sure which stand, I'd guess at above 27,000

I was also at the Scunny game last season and felt totally depressed at the time. The penny had dropped that we could be in league 1 for many more years.

Regards the match (like many matches last season) we played OK but a bit like like a pre season work out. Lots of good patient possession but far too much side ways passing. The thing that was clear to me was

The players were going through the motions, didn't seem motivated or bothered.
And for that attitude I blame the manager.

Not one player was willing to take responsibility and grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Scunthorpe just quite ordinary, but very well organised, confident and playing as a team.
It was pretty obvious that it was only a matter of time before they would score.

When we went 1-0 behind I expected a reaction and for us to up the tempo and move out of 2nd gear But no, the players continued to go through the motions.

At that moment I knew the manager had lost the dressing room.
I don't mind lack of ability but there's no excuse for a lack of passion or effort.

The other thing that totally depressed me was the lack of booing and anger at Bramall Lane.
Even us Blades fans seemed to have lost hope and couldnt be bothered to even boo.

The turn around in less than 12 months by Wilder has been amazing
And for that it doesn't matter what he does in future because I'll always be grateful to Wilder.
I hope our fans remember what Wilder has done for this club when he goes though a bad patch and they think back when booing him and shouting "Wilder out".

Just battled my way to town and back, broken down busses, ambulances, and a hundred phone calls when I was in the car, a mad afternoon, however, there's not many left on the kop or south stand, asked the girl behind the counter how manys been sold, she couldn't say but said a lot, I said it's mad I bet and she said yeah, not seen owt like this before..... be a good gate Saturday, let's just hope we get behind them and they give us a reason to shout the house down....

22 left in the South as of right now. Kop still looks fairly empty on the sides, not many left centrally

Ha, very similar it is Lokomotive Leipzig's ground. They play in the 4th tier of the German League which is regionalised but still get some decent crowds highest this season is over 6000, they once got over 12k when playing in the rough equivalent of the same league as Sheffield FC.

Wouldn't it be funny if we got more than their "Sell out" against Wolves

Not really bothered how many turn up tbh. I think it is going to be between 25,000 and 26,000. But the main thing is the atmosphere. And the best atmosphere I've experienced so far this season was in a United crowd of only 4,000 - at Peterborough last week.
