I don't do away games anymore as my 64 year old legs are knackered but go to every home game. The thing is, i seem more relaxed at the match than sat at home when we play away. I sit in front of the computer watching Sky news, saturday live on BBC and live text as it happens on here, so i have 3 or 4 tabs open switching from one to the other and getting in a right old state! It should be exciting waiting for the goals to go in but i find i'm the other way, ie, nervous as a shitting dog.
Do we all feel the same?

If I'm not going to an away match I ban myself from any exposure to the football scores between 3-5pm. At least when it's done it's done, no anxiety.

You're clearly a man of great self-discipline. I try the same, but by 3.30 I sneak a look, and that's another afternoon's peace gone. Perhaps they could have the occasional academy match at the Lane at 3 on Saturdays, ban phones, and have a retro afternoon with an old-fashioned scoreboard changed by hand every 15 minutes.

After the Walsall hammering not looking forward to this, tricky away game.
Although we won quite easy in the end last Saturday there was a 20min spell in the 1st half when we were poor. Add into the fact we can't keep a clean sheet away from home. I just have a feeling that we will lose today. Peterborough seem a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team and knowing our luck it will be the Jekyll team that turns up today.
My wife does call me Mr Pessimistic though.

Always a tad nervous but this season i tend to remind myself of our players, our manager and now of course our new players, never kid myself but yes, I am confident, and no I am not shitting mysfelf even though I had a curry last night, 2-1 blades, even the weather isn't as cold as I thought.

Always in between . It's continual trepidation until 4.45pm.

The positive when you go to away matches it's a adventure and keeps your mind off things until they kick off . We then kick every ball .

Years of mental torture has done this to all of us .

For anyone unaware you can watch the game on facebook live, some kind person on a sheffield united grotup streams away games. If you want the link drop me a PM.

It is even worse listening to Blades player as it runs around 2 minutes behind and I know when goals have gone in either end from watching the feeds on this site put on by the fans.
Much better to be at the game.

5-2 up at Leicester, 85 mins gone and I'm still fearful of a 3-in-5-minutes fight back from a demoralised Leicester team who's minds have been on a Spanish island somewhere since just after half time.
Other than supping a gazillion pints by 2.59pm, I'd love to hear anyone's coping mechanism that I could try :(

I haven't been so nervous this season. The reason......

I can see from our performances that we are probably the BEST team in the league.
We've strengthened in the JTW so now have a strong subs bench.
So even with the bad luck of injuries or loss of form.. we still have other good players to fill in.

Yes.. I know we might be unlucky and lose the odd game or we might have an odd poor game
But there's plenty of games to play so over a season the BEST teams should finish in the top two

Another problem factor is that there's no outstanding oppostion this season

So I am told.

Not just when absent from games, though, but also when in attendance at the Lane Library. It's an absolutely valid justification for sitting in complete silence for 90 minutes, offering the team we support no encouragement whatsoever.

So I am told.

whats to shit ourselves about
every view from opposing teams weve played tell us we are the best team in this league
followed us for fifty years , never been more confident about how good we are , and can yet be
even if we have the odd setback , which happens to all clubs we have the strength in this squad
both physically and mentally to see this through
so look forward to every game , giddy as a kipper

The football bets are on, Fleetwood Beer Festival this afty, phone at the ready for updates and scores, what could be better :)

I have to watch on twitter week in week out, it's nerve wracking, all my hair has either gone grey or has fallen out.

I'm sorry but you've been confident about how good we are for as long as I can remember and for the majority of that time we've been wank

I await your tottaly missed the point reply with interest

It's very strange how all the unbelievably bad things that can happen to a football club has happened to ours and made us think like this.

I remember coasting into a 2-0 lead at Ipswich a number of years ago and then they had man sent off in the second half.

So, what happens next ?
Do United go on to hammer them
Do United professionally kill the game off

Or
Do they lose 3-2

Yes, you guessed it

Ive seen us getting in the play offs each year as we should and heve never offered us as doing better , ched getting sent down ruining it apart .
We have never looked this competent as a team , not even under Bassett or Warnock

we all have recollections of collapses , as do most clubs ,
we are different as fans as we remember defeats for years and years and years and years and years
we forget games we turned round

our first thought is always it going wrong
its like pesch goal never happened
we must have won as many from losing positions as weve lost from winning
our overall league record says so

Go to very few away games (none this season) so, I usually spend Sat afternoon with 'er indooowers'. This means as soon as I look at my phone I get a bollocking! This is until 4:50 when I THEN WEAR THE TROUSERS AND TELL HER IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS...please may I check the final score, sweetheart?
