Transformed with Wright back in. Rash tackles, cock up's are OK when Wright plays, he simply sweeps up the mistakes by standing 10 yards back. He is the voice of the team, today put his arm around Moore for rushing out, told him to calm down and think, EEL hesitated and let their kid in, Wright was in position to clear the ball and had a gentle word, Sharpe maybe the captain but Wright is the leader, Wilder cannot afford to drop him again. He is the L1 version of Franco Baresi.

Wright and Fleck are the centre of everything. The former should've been brought back into the fold much sooner. But he's here now, so no complaints from me.

Just one question. When you say that 'EEL hesitated and let their kid in' do you mean in the first half when they played a diagonal long ball? If so I'm just punting out that EEL hesitated because Moore shouted for it but then didn't go for it. It could only be heard from the kop so I thought at the time EEL would be blamed for it on here

I also thought Basham did well when he came on.
Infact dare I say it, but it looked better than it did in the 1st half.

Bash did really very well, when he came on and endearingly assured us all at one point during his other wise excellent performance that it was really him with his pinpoint 30 yard pass to the ball boy in front of the disabled enclosure in front of the corner of John Street and the Kop

Jake Wright is the coolest customer I have seen in a Blades shirt for several years. Never flustered and keeps everyone around him steady and focused.

Wherever we are next season I hope that Wilder keeps him involved, whether as first choice CB (league 1) or squad player/part of the coaching team (Championship).
Young players will so much from this guy.

He is right up there for my player of the season, so far.

I feel that if Wright had played in the middle of a back 3 regularly earlier in his career he wouldn't have spent so much time in the lower leagues.

Wright's brain is his greatest asset. He even does the thinking for EEL and JOC so they don't have to.

Playing as he has for us, I find it amazing that he's only played lower league footy. No doubt quicker and better opponents would find him out in a back four, but in his current spot he plays like an aging ex premier league footballer enjoying his late career.

From the off, Wright was directing the defence. We could hear from the South Stand. He tells them when to drop back, when to go to the ball and when to move up in a line. And on the rare occasions that the ball got through, he was there to calmly step in, nick the ball and pop it off 2 yards to Coutts. As has been said elsewhere, he has a touch of Dave Holdsworth (albeit Reg was doing it a division higher) about the way he gets through games without necessarily having to run about, because he is reading the game better than the other players on the pitch.

No coincidence that that the midfield 3 was back on all cylinders too. Part of that was probably down to the competition that we now have with Carruthers and O'Shea looking for a start, but as a few of us have mentioned before, the holy trinity have played their best stuff this season with Wright in the team, providing the reassuringly calm and solid base.

Thanks for pointing this out. Whilst I sit on the kop I'm a long way back and this looked like EEL poor decision making at the time. If he got a poor call that changes things
