Said this after our defeat to Fleetwood but I was somewhat relieved when the Bolton result came in to secure us 2nd place for the time being.

So with that in mind, now is the ideal opportunity to get ourselves back on track and start to increase the 2nd to 3rd points difference. Plus we have more players to utilise, including Samir Carruthers coming back from injury.

Just a bit of a shitty blip. Back to business now.

Let's start by putting Wimbledon away tomorrow.

If we win tomorrow and Bolton don't then that would give us more than enough of a buffer going into the rest of February.

Bolton have a hard game too away at MK Dons, and their deadline day activity has made me confident long term. If we build the gap to 9 points or more then I don't see them clawing it back.

Fleetwood also have a hard game at Charlton, they won't win there.

The break came at the right time and has given the team chance to work on things again.

I think the approach will be to tighten up at the back, not to take daft risks and protect the back 3, for the first half at least, settle the game down and then start to get forward.

It'll be interesting to see what changes Wilder makes, if any

"FOXY!"

Barney's account has been hacked and some nutter is posting positive stuff......

You could argue that the Anti-Adkins campaign was also extremely positive for our club

Just lumped the house, car, wine collection and yacht on Fleetwood. You'll see!

Oh and Scunthorpe are away at Southend.

Could be a good day for us. Just fucking win please, United.

Just spoke to a colleague who is a Southend supporter. Expect Theo Robinson to feature for them as apparently Ranger has failed a drugs test! Hardly surprising.

Sons of Wilder! Of Sheffield! My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come when the courage of Blades fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of skanky owls and shattered shields when the age of Blades comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand! Bladesmen of the Lane!

"This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Wimbledon at home shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saturday 4th of February"

With apologies to the Bard.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our BLADESMEN dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest BLADESMEN.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in SHEFFIELD, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Chrissy, England, and SHEFFIELD UNITED!'

Whichever way you roll it prior to Walsall away (lest we forget only 3 games ago), we'd only lost 2 games in twenty odd and everybody and their uncles (fans, opposition fans, managers and TV pundits) seemed to think that we were best team in the league.

Since then, I think we've strengthened the squad better than the opposition who now have to go with what they've got, and provided everybody's heads are right, (including the support), I think we'll kick on hopefully starting tomorrow. What the last few games have shown though is just how quickly our general confidence can wane, but it's definitely understandable. Just so long as our own nervousness doesn't transfer itself onto the pitch, the old "Keep calm and support Sheffield United" poster/pic has never been more relevant.

Whoever gives him his next contract wants fucking. It's bad enough that Southend gave him a(nother) chance.

I wonder if the managers who have signed him see him as a project, sort of "I know I can turn him around". Maybe a few years ago there was a good player in there, but the guy has become a lost cause at just 25 years old. I wonder when he will look in the mirror and see all the lost opportunities that have passed him by?

Fucked up every chance he's ever been given, what a waste.

I'm worried about you. Far too much common sense. JohnDenver has a rival.

Could you not say something daft, maybe about our pitch or Hoof or something, so I can get mad with rage?....

What a Fucking idiot!

Kind regards,

Don't worry Pinchy it'll come. I haven't posted on here pissed up and pissed off yet. ;)

Appreciate the sentiment, but I'll wait to see tomorrows team sheet before I start doing the Conga.

Wasn't that a girls aloud song!?

Since when have 20000 miserable sods been described as "we happy few"?
