Wasn't he suggesting the u23's for his development?

Yes but why would Man Utd sign him for their U23's? He'd be playing in the Checkatrade and end up back in L1. Saying that we had Leon Britton and I genuinely thought he was better in the PL than he was in the league below so there may be something in it. Maybe just not at Man United.

Louis Reed, not good enough for our first team but ok for Man United? I know they're not exactly the force they used to be but I can't agree with this.

" OK for Man Utd" development, that's all I'm saying. Man U have a recent history of quality small players, I'll provide all the dimensions of Butt, Scholes, Beckham, Giggs if you wish. Quality age per age is like gold dust, believe me. That quality needs nourishment, be it in L1 or Man U U-21, U-23 level. I believe Reed should be in our first team, failing that, he's not even on our bench, I believe he would be better served in Manchester, mixing with peers of similar ability.

Calvert-Lewin not good enough for our bench but has had a number of spells playing in the Premier League. More importantly he has been mixing with the first team in the Premier League on match days and that's invaluable. With us he would have been at home on match days like Reed.

What do you think to that?

LOUIS REED IS 19 YEARS OLD. 20 in July 2017.

Are you suggesting Louis Reed is as good as Scholes, Beckham, Butt and Giggs? I think if Reed was good enough he'd be in the team, we play the right way under Wilder and in theory Reed is the kind of player he'd like in the team. The fact that he is says it all. Calvert Lewin was snapped up as Everton saw potential and are now nurturing that potential. Telling that no one has been in for Reed. I'm not saying he isn't any good but I'm saying the experts seem to think he isn't. Age has nothing to do with footballing ability.

I would say that the players you named above though were certainly physically stronger than Reed is at 19.

I very much doubt Man You are interested in Reed despite your tireless sales pitches on his behalf, but they are looking at this lad,

courtesy of Nick Cox.
When he goes I fervently hope that we do a Southampton and get at least £15m for him.

BTW Woody,on your point about our fans you clearly live in a paeallel Universe. If you can't grasp the immense and undeserved support this club has had over the last 6 seasons of total fuck up you know nothing about what being a fan is in reality. Newcastle and the Pigs got 4 figure gates in Division 3 and they weren't there half as long as us.
Stop posting silliness as you actually do have some good points to make.

Does make sense because we might be good preparation for the guy. As we have pressure that go with Big crowds & big expectations

Sean.

Post about our fans on the right thread and also read exactly what I said, it helps things along.

Sean, I have no wish to disagree with an obvious fan. Respect.

Well said. I know my way, do you know yours?

I'll state mine if you'll state yours fellow Blade. You first.

You really are a character.
My way?

Ok I'll play.
First match Blades 3 Pigs 2 1970.
Season ticket for about 25 of the years since excluding living abroad and childcare responsibiliies.
Been to hundreds of away games in all 4 leagues with us.
Been to all major let down games. All semi final losses and playoff semifinal and final losses.
Was at all league games home or away that determined relegation since 1970. Likewise promotion.
Had good kickings in Birmingham,Cambridge,Blackpool and Bolton standing not running.
Feel very entitled to state the case for supporters being very disillusioned with unbelievably huge underachievement for the last decade.
Will support my club to my last breath.
Have no issue with criticising weaknesses in our team or management.
Feel sorry for happy clappers.
Want return to standing at games.

That'll do.

As I said, an obvious fan, respect, nothing less. What's the beef then? I've none.

We support the same unfortunate club. What are you saying?

We are on the same side aren't we?

Well Sid did the best ever version so that's that dealt with.
Beef?
You come and go like you're some kind of figurehead that has regal status and relevance.
A lot of your views are obsolete and my advice to you before you become totally obsolete yourself is LISTEN more and POST A BIT LESS unless it's to recognise the clear and well thought through views of those younger and more open to change and the ability to criticise.
SUFC is not a Deity above criticism and those that do find fault love it no less than you.
Change Holmes. Seriously.

Weren't we linked with Nicky Butt after we were promoted in 2006, but the move didn't come about because we hadn't extended the wage bill to the levels Robson enjoyed a year later?
Just before the 2006-2007 season started it was announced on BBC Radio Manchester that Sheffield United would be signing Nicky Butt "later that day" (I was listening in the car on my way to work). Obviously it never came to pass. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was all set to go ahead but McCabe got wobbly knees at stumping up for his wages at the last minute.

I have often criticised Kevin for lack of courage but on this occasion I can't blame him for getting wobbly knees when a stump was up his Butt for a whole minute - it's bonky madness !
